Need help hooking up your receiver or other devices?

Tried recording my voice with Audacity. It worked.

Tried REW (latest Mac version) now and did another sweep graph. See attached and let me know if this is looking more like you would expect or not.

OK if it recorded your voice with Audacity then it suggests that the problem is a REW setting.

That sweep you took does not look like what I would expect. It is still very low level and it's missing a lot of bass frequencies. Would you be able to post your mic cal file so that I can examine it? There might be a typo in there somewhere.

Yea, that does not look like a standard SPL frequency sweep... Are you playing the frequency sweep into the RTA by any chance??? If so, you need to go back to making a measurement with a frequency sweep... https://www.roomeqwizard.com/help/help_en-GB/html/makingmeasurements.html might be something to read...

Those book shelf speaker don't dig too deep @Keith_W... Frequency Response ± 6dB is 50Hz-25kHz...

Thanks again, guys....

@Keith_W I'M attaching the UMIK-1 calibration file.

Yes, I'm playing the sweep into RTA, thought that this was what I needed to do....that was just for checking my setup?

OK, will go try doing what you suggest @ddude003

Nothing wrong with your cal file. Well, I guess now I am really out of ideas. Just as a sanity check ... you can actually HEAR the pink noise that you are playing, yes? Have you tried taking a sweep?

Thanks for checking the cal file.....if by pink noise you refer to the sweeptone file I'm playing through my Yamaha receiver and listening to on my JBLs, then 'Yes'.

btw, while the JBLs don't go down to low, JBL has a companion subwoofer to go with these speakers. My idea was to tryout the bookshelf speakers first and then see if I wanted the sub to go with them.

Yes, that was just a way to test if your mic was working correctly... Between your test with Audacity and with the RTA it looks like the mic and REW is working... It now boils down to tweaking some parameters with the sweep tone and measurement...

I have a hard time believing that your speakers roll off at 250Hz like the measurement you posted. Even my tiny AudioEngine computer speakers, which is about the size of a toilet roll, is able to manage 80Hz.

@ddude003 Thanks for confirming...and it makes sense to me that there's some settings tweaking needed....

@Keith_W Agree, this is strange....and certainly not conforming to JBL's specs.
