Clock adjustment usually high error?

Heya folks

Can anyone guide me towards what this error means and where to look for it?

It usually only happens when i use custom wave doing measurements.

The speakers also randomly crakle, im running with the marantz SR7015, the gfx card is an 3070, im using the front hdmi port "aux" because my cable isnt long enough to reach the back, my pc is in one end of the room, avr in the other, i did read that could also cause problems with a long cable (its 5m), but i cant move either of them any closer, anyway of making it better? higher quality hdmi cable maybe? different port?

Its not always, but often it comes up with this one.

I found this image also explaining what it is, but im a total rookie with all this, so i dont really understand what it means.

Im trying to calibrate my 5.1.4 system and yes im using OCA`s method mostly, using a custom 256k atmos sweeps wave files, and they do work, comes out in the right channels and all, i did read in another thread about the chirp and impulse graph, so i wont ask

I could post pictures of my settings, but im not home at the moment.

EDIT : I fixed it by unticking "Hardware acceleration" when installing REW.

Been reading some more threads in here, i came across the buffer thing about crakling, ill have to try that when i get home, because i havent touched that setting at all, but can that help with my original error pop up maybe?

The clock adjustment error message and crackling probably both have the same cause, data being lost. Increasing the ASIO buffer size may help, but if the issue is poor signal transfer due to the HDMI cable length (quite likely) you'll either need a shorter cable, some form of active HDMI extender, or put the WAV files on something your system can play to remove the need to use the PC for playback.

just ordere a hdmi booster, but another thing, i found the clock adjusment tap under impulse, there i can set it so it shows 0.0, unless its past 500 of course, isnt that the way to make my measuments acurate?

When the replay and capture devices are different there will be some difference in their clock rates leading to different sample counts, but the difference should be fairly small, usually below 50 ppm. Big differences are more likely to be due to data loss, which cannot be corrected.

This is getting very frustraiting, so i tried with 2 shorter cables with a booster inbetween, i long pricy heavy duty one, its still giving me the error, dosent matter if u se rew`s own sweeps or custom ones.
Weird thing is, when i get the error, i can run the same sweep 3-4 times and by the 4 time, it gives me one under 50, other times the sweep work fine the first time. I really wanna figure out whats causing this.

If i run sweeps without timing reference it dosent seem to give me the error.

I know my speaker distances so is the timing thing that important? i mean i can measure my center speaker pretty accurate, so i can just use that as "0" right, in the overlays?

Maybe its something on my pc acting up, but i have no idea what it could be, everything is set as it should be in the sound settings from what i read and seen in videos.

If its important my pc specs are :

i upgraded most of it last year, so i would hate if it was the 3070 that cant figure out the input its getting from the hdmi sometimes? it only has one hdmi in it, so sadly cant troubleshoot that part very much besides changing cables.

aah theres an option i didnt think about, yes ived been using 3070`s hdmi..

well that didnt work, intel audio is not showing up anywhere, i got the intel graphics so show up in device manager, but no audio

Its not showing up anywhere.. I kinda got it to work but cant get it to work with rew..
So im just stuck with this high ppm thing and no idea what the problem is

Could it be an issue with the usb connection? Im using the front usb on my pc, if theres a delay from there sometimes or something?

I got to work partly by reinstalling both aiso and rew, no ppm errors but now the buffer size in the control panel is stuck at 512 making my speakers crakle, it wont move even tho i move the slider to max,,,

Ye i tried that but its weird with check levels, with asio for all set at 71 db in check level, using Flex it says 90... And its def not that high..

It seems like (still need more testing) that unticking hardware acceleration when re-installing REW was the culprint of the high ppm
