The Trip Continues... McIntosh Strengthens Bond with the Grateful Dead, Releases Limited Edition Wireless Speakers

(May 16, 2023) In 1974, McIntosh and the Grateful Dead made music history with a legendary Wall of Sound. Forty-eight McIntosh MC2300 amplifiers delivered a blistering 28,000 Watts of power to create a groundbreaking system that immortalized the Dead as a live act in the annals of rock history. Fast-forward to today and the two music icons are still collaborating, with McIntosh committing to power the Dead & Co’s The Final Tour 2023 concert intermissions with a custom audio setup. Showgoers will enjoy an analog high-fidelity sound experience listening to vinyl played through a McIntosh MT10 Precision Turntable and a C12000 Preamplifier. These intermissions will be broadcasted in-stadium via jumbotrons and to Deadheads worldwide through a live stream of each performance.

To celebrate five decades of musical collaboration and the Dead & Co's The Final Tour, McIntosh has cooked-up special Grateful Dead Limited Edition RS150 and RS250 wireless speakers. Featuring the Dead's dancing bears and Steal Your Face artwork emblazoned on the speakers' glass face plates, owners will enjoy the green glow of McIntosh's signature logo and a Watt meter. More than just eye candy, the fast-responding meter uses the same trusted circuits found in McIntosh's analog meters; it then digitizes the results and outputs them into a pulsating, gradated bar that shares the curved shape of the company's traditional analog meters.

Loaded with a broad range of wireless music options, including Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon, and Bluetooth 5.0, both speakers can connect to a home network via WiFi or Ethernet.

The RS150 Wireless Speaker ($1,500) takes the shape of a traditional compact bookshelf design. The speaker's output (48Hz to 20kHz) is delivered by a 5.25" woofer driven with 90 watts of power and a .75" titanium dome tweeter backed by 30 watts of power.

The pricier RS250 ($3,500) sports a modern table-top look complete with a stereo array and dual Watt meters. It offers slightly better low-end extension (40Hz to 20kHz) using two 4" x 6" woofers, four 2" midranges, and two .75" tweeters. And, unlike the RS150, it has a rear phono input and a single subwoofer output.

Love the look... really cool. Wouldn't you know I prefer the "pricier" model. :spend:
