Sheesh, gotta say I didn't see that coming. I figured you guys would work over the White Sox. Is it now my turn to talk you off the ledge? Todd, think of the wife, kids, music, and those crab cakes! Baseball is a crazy game. We don't know whether to buy or sell right now. I think our GM is going to ride this out and see what happens which really could help our bargaining position. Our offense is looking pretty good. I don't really know what's going to happen TBH?

I keep waiting for the page to turn, but the pages seem to be stuck together.

O's are in a similar situation as the Royals: LOTS of major contracts end after next season. The talk around here is the window closing following next season.

Not liking the body language on the field right now. The look defeated.

I'm curious to see what the Royals do. I read a post-trade analysis of teams that have sold of stars for prospects. It doesn't work out well all that often. The Astros got incredibly lucky.

We've actually been pretty lucky. Look at what we got for Zach Grienke and then follow the path of trades from those players. All of those players were key in our two World Series. I would assume the O's first priority would be locking up Machado? If not I think it should be.

I would hope so... he's special. But, I hope they don't sign him for the reported $350 million plus that he might be asking. That might kill the O's for 8-10 years.

What…huh? That's beyond ARod ridiculous money! Just don't let him go to NY or Boston please. Competitive balance was better before the latest deal. It's going to kill the smaller market clubs.

Yeah... the number being thrown around is $350 to $400 million.

Outside of Adam Jones, he's my favorite Oriole, but I just can't see Baltimore succeeding long term with that kind of contract on the books. Sure wish Baseball had a salary cap to control these kinds of numbers...

I agree but as long as they keep making money and small market teams like the Royals win the WS it doesn't help the cause. We need MLB to feel a financial hardship from the smaller markets being hurt from competitive imbalance. We need a real cap like the NFL has.

Hahahaha that's awesome! That Sano guy is pretty good but I think you're probably a year away from really contending. I could be wrong but we'll see. They are surprising teams no doubt.

Well, it looks like the Royals might still be in this thing after all. The bats are red hot and gasp…they're hitting home runs. If we can keep this thing close until Duffy returns it could still happen. The team appears to be confident right now and us fans in KC would love to see this group make one last run together.

Todd, we need your O's to do some work against Cleveland. It's starting to look like maybe KC and Cleveland are going to duke it out for the division. What's going on with the Yankees? Six in a row with that roster seemed unlikely. It just goes to show anything can happen.

O's bats had two solid days in a row... and our best starters are going to face the Indians. Hope we can help KC out.

I *might* sneak out to the game on Wednesday. We have tix, but it might not be able to fit in.

Yankees and Sox can lose as much as they please... we need it!! :-)

I'll be watching the score this afternoon. As BAD (read B-A-D) as Baltimore has been playing, they're only 4.5 out of first.
I was looking at the SOS rankings... The O's have the 2nd most difficult schedule this year. KC has the 5th. The Nats have a cupcake walk through a park littered with flowers and kittens.

We've got Kevin Gausmen throwing tonight... many thought he'd emerge as the staff ace this year. Unfortunately, he can't seem to make it out of the second inning without giving up 8 runs!

Cleveland's starting pitcher (Carrasco?) was absolutely filthy last night. He works fast, throws strikes, and wastes no time going right at hitters.

The O's starter hung in there until the 5th... had 9 strikeouts...but made two mistakes in 5th frame and gave up 3 runs. :-( That was the whole game, right there. The runs in the 9th didn't matter and the O's offense just struggled.

We've now lost JJ Hardy for about 2 months with a broken wrist. We had some journeyman playing short last night. I'm guessing we'll see Manny Machado slide over to short (which is his natural position) when/if Chris Davis comes back. Davis will move from first to third. That could be a month, tho.
