For those in Texas, especially, close to the Gulf of Mexico, Hurricane Harvey will come ashore Saturday early morning..

Stay safe with plenty of water and food..

We're bracing for it here in Corpus Christi. Took off work early today and helped my son board up his house. I'm flying out tomorrow morning for Arkansas to be with my wife, whose mother is not expected to live after a heart attack. Bad circumstances, but good timing at least. Hopefully I can get out before they shut down the airport.

Houston is also bracing for it. They say we are going to get most of the rain which could cause potential flooding. We are in the north side so hopefully we will not be that impacted.

For those interested in checking out this hurricane, you can see from the comforts of your home via webcams..

Interesting video to knowing the differences between a Category 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Hurricane

Hurricane Harvey is now cat4.

from yahoo,

"Hurricane Harvey has strengthened to a Category 4 storm, as Texas is bracing for impact later Friday evening.

The storm, which has maximum sustained winds of 130 mph with even stronger gusts, is expected to be the worst to hit the state in nearly two decades."

I just read this on our local ABC news site. It's set to be bigger than Katrina.
I hope everyone in the affected areas comes through it OK.

It is raining in Houston.. Watching the live feed from youtube from weather channel.

It was working fine last night, was watching it till the eye landed on land.. Yeah, now this morning, it is not working..

Looks like the link changed. weather channel is now from the following link on youtube..

Raining very heavy here now but so far so good.

Rain stop here since morning.. So far so good. :)

How's everyone doing there in TX?

Wayne... sorry to hear about your circumstances :-(

Personally, we are good. From what I can gather from the news, overall Houston is good but the bayous are getting full of water. So far none have spilled over.
Only 20K people lost power and most have power restored by now..

There were two tornado's, one in Missouri City and one in Katy (cities that are right next to Houston on the southwest and west side). Outside of that, not much. All day it has been clear of rain but according to the news, it all depends on where you are in the bands, so while some will not get rain now, they have potential to get rain later when the bands move in and out.

Other places especially Rockport which is a small city that got the bulls eye of the storm got heavily damaged..

Wow, that is impressive..

It is now raining full here in Houston.

During the day, it was very light rain.. Depending on the band, either you got nothing or you got a lot of rain.

Hopefully the rain will not be too much otherwise, the bayous will overflow and we will have flooding issues tomorrow.

When do the streets in Houston not flood if it rains...just saying. ;)

Yeah, unfortunately Houston is very flat. When it rains heavy in a short time period, flooding will happen.

All night, it has been raining here in Houston. This morning, there are reports that the bayous are full and street flooding is now seen.

So far my street is good. I did notice some water drops on the upstairs ceiling and when I went to investigate, did find an exhaust pipe or some type of pipe that goes to the roof having slight water from the outside sliding down. Put a pan down for time being to catch any drops.. I guess the amount of rainfall is so high that the water on the exterior of the pipes are finding any place to run off to..

Will have to have someone go up there and put some type of sealer to ensure no opening is there around the pipes for next time..

Still have power so that is good..

Lot of folks lost power and some have flooding issues in other parts of town.

It always amazes me how the strength of the Hurricanes drop so fast after landfall. The amount of rain is incredible. Stay safe people.

yeah, it has been non stop rain here.. We still have electricity.

I was able to get some foam sealer spray to put around 3 of the 4 pipes. The 4th one is way to far for me to reach.. Hopefully by adding the foam sealer, it will stop any potential leaks on the 3 pipes I was able to reach..

Roads are still clear where I am but looks like half the city is under flood watch/warning..

There are also lots of tornado's in the region now. More so than yesterday .. Scary stuff.

Tornados are scary, we even get them up here. Very unpredictable
