Texas: Hurricane Harvey

The CBS local affiliate Channel 11 went off the air. Their studio got flooded.
Yeah, there have been multiple tornado warning/watches. Very unpredictable in the sense they are seen for 2 min and then disappear and then re-appear far away for another 2 min..

Flooding is really bad in the bottom half of Houston.. Lot of low lying areas.

Rain has started to slow down but still ongoing..

We are still doing well. I was able to stop the leaks, put up one of those foam sealants near the pipes which were showing water drops.. So far they are holding up.. Eventually, I have to seal from the roof but for now within the attic, they are contained..

There is bad news, they had to start release two dams since they were going to be overflowing so to control it, they are releasing slowly both dams. Folks living close to those dams will get flooded.

Other bad news, several rivers in the southwestern portion of Houston are going to crest soon so lot of flooding will happen once this happens.

It is going to get worse before it gets any better unfortunately.

It was reported on the local news that over 70 tornadoes were reported yesterday.. wow..
Still raining today.. More floods as creeks, rivers, bayous spill over..

Some visuals for you.

Something to bring a smile to us under these terrible conditions..

Pretty bad devastation in Houston.

Phew.... hopefully aide and help is on its way.

I believe now, federal, state, and local authorities are helping.. But, of course, it will take time to get millions of people out of harms way... Slowly but surely.

Last night, it was light rain so it wasn't that bad.. Our electricity went out but came back later in the night so not too bad either..

Today, it stop raining but the hurricane is in the gulf getting more water and going to come ashore so this is the break we get until it comes back with more rain..

So far streets in front are clear still, no flooding.

I have minor leaks that caused damage to sheetrock and one kitchen countertop, nothing major.

We are still good, have water, food, and electricity.

It has been steady light rain all day so far.

Grocery stores are open but they only allow 5 at a time so long line in the rain but at least they are open.. So that is good.

I was able to get a sealer from one of the local hardware stores and was able to cover a 4th pipe.. Unfortunately, the 5th (last pipe) which has a pen size hole, I can't reach to seal.. It is just to high. For time being, I put a towel around the pole and put duct tape to hold it there. Hopefully not much water will go thru but if it does, the towel will catch most of it..

A family friend of ours who have a special needs child will be joining us.. Their house is going to get flooded..

We were able to donate a lot of children clothing to the nearby shelter since the roads were clear near our neighborhood.

More rain is predicted later tonight..

Below is the track once Harvey leaves Texas..

For folks where this hurricane is heading toward, start preparing ...

What a mess for the folks in along the coast of TX and LA. :-(

Certainly difficult to watch the images of these neighborhoods flooding.

It finally stop raining since the hurricane is past Houston now..

We are now in recovery mode but of course lot of folks are still under water..

Flooding will be here for sometime for some folks due to the rivers/creeks/bayou's cresting..

Hope folks who are in the path are prepared..

To put things in perspective, see below.

Hope everyone is okay from all the storms and rain. We dodged a Tornado here in our town of Luverne today. These storms have a way of effecting people 100's of miles away.

Wayne... sorry to learn about your mother-in-law... we are praying for you guys.

Wow, These storms just keep coming. :frown: and there are more lined up behind them...

Keep safe everyone!

Thanks for the kind words, Sonnie.

Got back to Corpus Christi last week, and we are swamped with work due to the aftermath of the storm, so you might not be seeing a lot of me here for a while.

Driving through Refugio, and especially Bayside, Rockport and Fulton, the devastation is tragic and heartbreaking to behold.

Regards,
Wayne
