(June 24, 2026) PSB is expanding its all-in-one offerings with the introduction of the new iQ Series, a family of powered streaming speakers designed to deliver a complete hi-fi experience without requiring separate amps or streamers. Launching with two models—the iQ1 and iQ2—the series combines PSB's acoustic expertise with BluOS streaming technology, modern connectivity, and a range of finishes intended to fit comfortably into today's living spaces.
Both models build upon the acoustic platform introduced in PSB's original Alpha iQ while incorporating a new Burr Brown Class-D amplifier platform, upgraded cabinet finishes, and cloth fabric grilles. Designed to simplify system building without sacrificing capability, the speakers provide access to the full BluOS ecosystem, allowing listeners to stream music, podcasts, internet radio, and high-resolution audio while integrating seamlessly throughout the home.
While the iQ1 and iQ2 share the same underlying technology, they take different approaches to stereo playback. The iQ1 utilizes a wired connection between the primary and secondary speakers, while the iQ2 employs a dedicated low-latency wireless link that eliminates the need to run a cable between channels. The iQ2 also expands the design options considerably, offering seven finishes, including Ember Red, Boreal Green, Granite Grey, Sandstone Beige, and a premium Walnut Veneer accented by copper details. And for a little touch of class, PSB applies a fingerprint-resistant coating during manufacturing to help keep each cabinet looking its best over time.
Audio-wise, both models employ a 4" polypropylene mid-bass driver paired with a 0.75" aluminum dome tweeter. Both are also fueled by an amp platform that delivers 270 watts of total system power per stereo pair. Each woofer receives a dedicated 90-watt amplifier, while the tweeter amplification differs slightly between the two models. The iQ1 pairs its tweeters to a shared two-channel amplifier delivering 45 watts per channel, while iQ2 uses independent 45-watt amplifiers for each tweeter. PSB also incorporates DSP-based crossover tuning, tuned bass ports, and optimized low-frequency extension to maximize output and bass performance from the compact cabinets.
Streaming duties are handled by BluOS, which supports more than 20 music services and enables multi-room playback with other BluOS-enabled products. High-resolution audio playback is supported up to 24-bit/192kHz, while Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive provide additional streaming flexibility. An audiophile-grade DAC is also onboard to ensure high-quality digital playback.
Connectivity extends well beyond streaming. Both models feature HDMI eARC for television audio, optical and RCA inputs, a built-in moving-magnet phono preamp for turntables, USB-C audio connectivity, and a dedicated subwoofer output. The latter incorporates DSP-enabled high-pass and low-pass filtering, making integration with a powered subwoofer easier for listeners seeking additional low-frequency performance.
Control is handled primarily through the BluOS Controller App, available across Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS platforms. For day-to-day operation, touch-sensitive controls located on the primary speaker provide quick access to volume, playback functions, and customizable presets. The iQ Series can also be integrated into smart home ecosystems like Control4, Crestron, Nice, RTI, and URC.
The PSB iQ1 is available now in black and white finishes for $999 USD. The PSB iQ2 is also available with pricing starting at $1,399 USD for standard finishes and $1,499 USD for the Walnut Veneer version. Both models can be purchased through authorized PSB dealers, online retailers, or directly from PSB.
