Hi all,

I have a question concerning a 9.1 setup which does not seem to be working anymore.
It seems that my setup stopped functioning after I switched my power bar off and on again after some cleanup...thought it was worth mentioning...

My setup was the following:

1X Sony SSCS8 connected to CENTER
1X Sony SACS9 connected to SUBWOOFER 1
2X Sony SSCS3 Front speakers connected to FRONT R and FRONT L
2X Sony SSCS3 Surround Back speakers connected to SURROUND R and SURROUND L (since the SR7012 setup does not allow to have surround back speakers if you don't have surround speakers to start with). I did this because I haven't installed my 2X Sony SSCSE yet)
2X Sony Sposato CWSIC100T Top Front connected to HEIGHT1 R and HEIGHT1 L
2X Sony Sposato CWSIC100T Top Rear connected to HEIGHT2 R and HEIGHT2 L

After repowering up my SR7012, I noticed my 2X Top Rear speakers were not functioning anymore. After connecting these speakers' cables to different outputs, I confirm that these speakers work. Also, I checked and tightened all my banana plugs so every connector is firmly connected.

Trying to use the Audissey or manual setup, it now looks like I have to use a pre-amp to make the HEIGHT2 output work for this 9.1 setup. Unless a recent update to the software caused this, I don't know what to think other than my HEIGHT2 output are burnt.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

So did you look in the setup menu to see if the speaker outputs are turned on? Most receivers have an option to turn off or on the amps. I would also run your Audessey again just to make sure.

Hello Tony,

Thank you very much for your reply. I did not know I could verify the outputs were on.I will check and get back to you.

Thanks again

Hi Tony,

It may be a code 18 error but not entirely sure. I reran the manual setup and indicated I had not more than 9 speakers. Now, when it came to setup the ceiling speakers, the setup assistant gave me the choice of 2 or 4 speakers whereas yesterday it would only offer the 2-speakers option (strange). I was able to make all 9 speakers work in the end.

Also, I did not find the feature to check whether the outputs were on in the setup menu but I found the following (attached) when pressing the info button. Please let me know where to find it since it would be very handy.

Thanks again and have a great day!

I can’t quite decipher: did you get your 2 height speakers working?

I was going to suggest that you’ve accidentally put your receiver’s output into some sort of pure mode that told the receiver not to upmix to the height channels...

Hi Todd,

Sorry for the delay and lack of clarity. Yes, I got all of my 4 ceiling speakers to work.
You are right, I remember making sure that the sound mode was set to movie before running the manual setup again. Honestly, I didn't know what the pure mode was.

Thanks
