The HD Fury actually mimics a Dolby Vision display via the EDID and the player does the tone mapping dynamically sending a LLDV signal. Whoops! Hit post too quickly! So the HD Fury spoofs the EDID of the sink (pj) to advertise DV capability. The source (Sony X700 in my case) then does all the work.

Hello,

New here, thankyou for having me.

I am also trying to get DV working on my setup.

Sources are

Roku Ultra - I can pick DV in the display settings.
XBOX X
Sony PS 5
Nvidia Shield 2017 - 2nd Gen
Sony ubp x800

Receiver is

Onkyo TX-NR787

Projector

6050UB

Current AV path

Sources--->Receiver---> HDFury Vertex 1---Projector.

Of the sources above, i believe only the XBOX X, Roku Ultra can stream Dolby Vision material.

Would love to have some feedback on what all I need to on the Vertex to get Dolby Vision material going on the Epson 6050UB.

I use this on the 5050 and can tell you that it does in fact work. The X800, is it the M2 version? I don't believe that the X800 will work unless it is an UBP-X800M2 model. The Shield should work, that's what I use exclusively with my Diva. The Ultra should also work but I had HDMI handshake issues with mine. I do use a Roku 4K Streaming Stick occasionally and it works. Any source that will output LLDV should work.

I'm not familiar with the Vertex webgui but the screen you'd want to adjust the DV tab values, here's what mine currently looks like:

Mechman, thankyou for the quick response.

The Sony The X800 is not the M2 version, so i am out of luck there. The shield is the 2017 gen 2 version, so i think i am out of luck there too, so the Roku maybe the only DV capable source i have at the moment.. Once i can get the HDFury to report a DV capable display back to the sources, i think i will know for sure when i go to the display settings on the sources.

Your DV tab on the vertex 2 is pretty extensive compared to what I see on Vertex 1. Below are the EDID and DV tabs on the Vertex 1. The settings shown are not mine, these images are from the Vertex manual. Not sure how i can change some of DV settings on the Vertex 1, I am told they can be changed but not easily as on the Vertex 2. Maybe by loading the proper EDID file with the needed DV settings? Where do i get the EDID file? I am hoping somebody on this thread has worked with the Vertex 1.

I see that you found your way to AVS. There are a lot more resources there than there is here.

yes... I am looking. Today I messed with the Vertex again. I was able to get the Roku to see the Dolby Vision display, but everything was a total fiasco. I got really psychedelic colors. Tried a few different settings, but eventually just went back to Straight HDR. Not sure if it is the settings or the cables or the equipment. I am at a loss now.

Made some headway yesterday. Changed out hdmi cable from the Vertex to Projector to newer shorter cable and got the ROKU to see a DV device, used the stock Sony EDID setting and got a decent picture. Now the fun begins. Need to figure out how to tweak the EDID files. Any ideas on this?

I have no idea how to tweak a Vertex. I think I’d stick with the Sony settings otherwise it seems like you’d need to capture some hex strings and use those to tweak the vertex.
