(July 8, 2026) Before diving into the details, it's worth noting that FaberAcoustical has been a valued partner and supporter of AV NIRVANA's Bass Hunters webshow. That relationship has given us a firsthand appreciation for the company's approach to measurement, audio analysis, and the practical tools it builds for real-world evaluation. We certainly appreciate the partnership.
With that said, SignalScope X 13, FaberAcoustical's newly announced revision, appears to be a major step forward. The update introduces direct support for STI and STIPA measurements, a redesigned interface, expanded access to MultiTool, new Pro-level analyzer features, and a major change to how users can buy and manage licenses.
The headline feature is a new STI/PA Analyzer Tool, which enables SignalScope X 13 to perform direct Full STI (also referred to as Fast STI) and direct STIPA measurements. STI stands for Speech Transmission Index, while STIPA is the version commonly associated with public address systems. In simpler terms, these tools evaluate how understandable speech is in a given environment, which can matter in everything from performance venues and commercial spaces to classrooms, houses of worship, studios, and other rooms where clarity is critical.
According to FaberAcoustical, the new STI/PA tool was developed in accordance with IEC 60268-16, Edition 5.0 (the 2020-09 version of the standard). Access to this feature requires a Pro Tool Set license.
Licensing is another major part of this release. Since its 2018 launch, SignalScope X has been built around subscriptions for its Basic, Advanced, and Pro Tool Sets. Users who wanted a perpetual license previously had to purchase separate versions of SignalScope, such as the 2020 and 2022 Basic, Advanced, or Pro apps. That approach worked, but it also made upgrade pricing more difficult.
SignalScope X 13 changes that by adding perpetual licenses directly inside the app. Basic, Advanced, and Pro Tool Sets can now be purchased as buy once licenses through SignalScope X itself, while subscriptions remain available for users who prefer that model.
FaberAcoustical has also introduced Faber Accounts, which are designed to give existing perpetual license customers a way to register previous purchases and unlock upgrade pricing on select new products. Those accounts can also be used to activate cross-platform licenses purchased through FaberAcoustical.com. In this case, cross-platform means the same license can be activated in SignalScope X on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Importantly, signing into a Faber Account isn't required to use SignalScope X. The account system is optional, but it provides FaberAcoustical a cleaner way to handle discounts, upgrade eligibility, and license activation outside of Apple's in-app purchase system.
The perpetual license structure also comes with a defined long-term support window. FaberAcoustical says 2026 Tool Sets unlocked by perpetual license will receive the same upgrades added to corresponding subscription tiers through calendar year 2028. After that, the tools and features included in the 2026 Tool Sets will continue to be maintained in future versions of SignalScope X.
Version 13 also brings a notable interface overhaul. On iPhone and iPad, the previous tab view has been replaced by a tool sidebar menu, bringing the mobile experience closer to the Mac version. Users can access the tool menu by tapping the toolbox icon in the top toolbar, then selecting the desired tool. On iPad, the sidebar can remain visible or hidden. On most iPhone models, the tool menu covers the interface until a tool is selected.
The app's in-app store has also moved to the Info menu, which is accessed by tapping the information icon in the top toolbar. SignalScope X 13 also supports Apple's Liquid Glass appearance on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26 or newer.
Another useful change is expanded MultiTool access. Previously limited to the Pro Tool Set, MultiTool is now available with Basic and Advanced licenses as well. MultiTool allows users to run multiple subtools simultaneously and to save or load configurations for different measurement setups. For anyone who regularly moves between projects, rooms, or repeatable measurement workflows, MultiTool flexibility is certainly a welcome addition at lower license tiers.
Pro users get several additional analysis features. The Octave Analyzer now supports 1/9-octave spectrum analysis in addition to whole octave and 1/3-octave modes. Filter slopes for fractional octave band filters can now be manually selected among O3, O5, and O7, corresponding to 18 dB, 30 dB, and 42 dB per octave attenuation. The Octave Analyzer can also route the output of individual fractional octave band filters to available output channels.
SignalScope X 13 is available now for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Subscription pricing is listed at $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year for the Basic Tool Set, $14.99 per month or $149.99 per year for the Advanced Tool Set, and $39.99 per month or $399.99 per year for the Pro Tool Set. Perpetual license pricing is listed at $89.99 for Basic, $299.99 for Advanced, and $899.99 for Pro.
