Be the Judge: The Ultimate Home Theater Room Review Thread

yeah, style over substance.. lol. :)

But, I am sure those sofas are comfortable..

Ignoring all of the clashing patterns on the furniture, the room isn't bad. Well constructed, nothing over the top, good size screen for the space. But yeah, either the audio is very well concealed or non-existent.

I can see a real skinny speaker on the far right side.. I suspect the sound will be very poor.

And if those are acoustic panels on the walls, they are too high. The wood will be too reflective.

It does look like they are acoustic panels, otherwise, one would think they would have put art prints or something similar on the walls. Yeah, too high.

Number 7.. Thoughts???

#7 looks like Luke Skywalker's original home! ;-)

lol.. Never thought of it but yeah, it makes sense now..

Where is the screen? Putting an image on the wall is kind of silly, I think for obvious reasons.

It would have been cool if they were playing star wars there.. lol. :)

How is number 8.. Here is something we can relate to.. :)

Alright... #8. This is a room that a lot of folks have to work with. But, wow, they completely dropped the ball.

Get the walls and rug grey or black. I'd build a false wall to extend that bump-out..install an AT screen and put that GoldenEar 3D array XL I reviewed behind it. The equipment rack could go under the screen. Slide the seating to the middle of the room!

I agree with all your points Todd. I am just wondering why the audio rack is near the door like it is. Maybe move it to the back corner out of the way of traffic??

Is that the sub in a little cutout cubby??

Yeah, it is a sub from what I can tell. :)

Agreed - why not use the space below the screen for equipment? I am assuming based on what I can see in the photo, that the speakers are all in-ceiling? Not a whole lot else they could have done with seating in that space I guess. Bumping out the screen wall and using an AT screen with a recessed cabinet for equipment would for sure be the way to go. I assume the corner is a hall closet? If it were me I'd probably try to find a way to give that up for additional screen real estate. Not practical for everyone though.

I agree Peter.. I also suspect that is a hall closet that could be sacrificed for the common good. But then again, there is the WAF. :)

Here is another interesting room.

Thoughts?
I am assuming there is a sofa facing the screen..

Looks like a respectable size room. Would darken the walls, maybe a throw rug. Anyone know what kind of speakers those are? And appears to be lacking a subwoofer.
Sure hope there is a sofa below the shot or else you are going to need a 90 degree neck to watch the screen. Can't really tell but it appears there may be a shade to pull down in that corner window. If not that will be an issue with screen reflection.

I like the room overall. I am just wondering if the screen should have been higher??

How about this one?

Nice and simple, clean installation. It looks to be a well thought out and constructed space. Some acoustic treatment wouldn't hurt. It's very... orange-y. I'd probably take the tags off the seats but that's just me...

Yeah, overall it does look good. I wonder if the front rows seats are too close to the screen? Outside of that it is done well. :)

I'd probably get rid of the brown/orange. But, overall, not bad at all!

Funny... most of these rooms probably look fairly nice in-person. Very hard to judge from a picture!

Todd, I wonder if they are Cincinnati Bengals fans.. (with the brown/orange colors).. :)
