Good afternoon/evening all . I hope Monday hasn't been too hard on anyone. Spent the evening talking to my daughter while listening to the Kinks. Three albums worth. She knows some of their songs but has never listened to an entire album before. I find the Kinks a really eclectic group. I love it. Some of their albums are pretty bad but dam, when they are good, they bring it way over the top. Here's the 3 albums we listened to last night.

Everyone's in Show-biz I found not to be all that good at all. But the other two were really good.

I liked the Kinks when I was a teenager in the 60s, but never bought any of their albums. I heard one of their early songs last year and then purchased this last Dec. As you say, a mixture of good and OK, but they bring back some good memories.

Is Celluloid Heros on that one? A bit sad, but always liked it.

Lola is a great tune. Though, it’s to figure how it got radio play when it came out. Maybe the adults didn’t listen to the words? Maybe they were too busy worrying about our long hair and bell bottoms and our countless other childhood rebellions

You Really Got Me was a bar band staple that every band found a way to play so it sounded good. Well, its possible the alcohol had something to do with it, I suppose.

My favourite album by the Kinks is Misfits. They wrote some great songs that challenged the norms of the day and are just becomming accepted now. Songs like

Listening to one of my favorite groups... Yelle. this time it is the album L'ere du Verseau on Tidal. My new Denafrips Pontis is making me listen to all my favorites again to see what new things I am hearing in all the tracks! Sound is spacious, good bass, crystal clear vocals and highs too. Every day I listen to the same music (plus more tracks), and so far every day it sounds better than the day before. In my setup this is one of the biggest sound improvements I have experienced since the MEHs were completed!

That’s exactly the Cult vinyl release I was using in my A/B testing. That album is just phenomenal. I met them years later playing the same radio station festival. My brother nicknamed his basement entertainment room the “Sonic Temple Bar & Grill” so Billy pulled an old set list out and he and Ian signed it for him.
