This morning I have "The Eagles" radio station on Pandora rocking while prep for a review. In fact, The Beetles "Here Comes the Sun" just kicked-in (which, with the big storm that's about to dump rain, is a good pick me up).

So... begs the question: What are you listening to right now?

Couldn't decide so I put the whole library on shuffle. Playing "The Curtain" by Snarky Puppy at the moment I saw this thread.

For anyone not familiar with them I'd recommend their album "We Like it Here"

Rock songs expertly turned into lullabyes! Linda's voice ranges from barely a whisper to soft crooning amidst ample sense of the recording venue. Very unique and soothing, this album frequently finds itself spinning on the big rig during a nightcap after a hard day. Perfect!

Right now, nothing, yesterday SACD's of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and then Toto IV. First one rocked me to my soul, second one was ok.

Hot Tuna - Hot Tuna

Quote:
Hot Tuna is an American blues band formed in 1969 by guitarist Jorma Kaukonen and bassist Jack Casady. Hot Tuna began during a break in Jefferson Airplane's touring schedule in early 1969 while Grace Slick recovered from throat node surgery that left her unable to perform. Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady, Paul Kantner, and new drummer Joey Covington played several shows around San Francisco, including the Airplane's original club, The Matrix, before Jefferson Airplane resumed performing to support the album Volunteers. Although Covington had been hired by Jefferson Airplane to fill in for Spencer Dryden, Covington was only called when needed and Dryden continued to perform with the Airplane.

Their early repertoire derived mainly from Airplane material that Kaukonen played and covers of American country and blues artists such as Rev. Gary Davis, Jelly Roll Morton, Bo Carter and Arthur Blake (Blind Blake). In addition, Casady and Kaukonen played as a duo with Kaukopnen on acoustic guitar. Beginning in October 1969, Hot Tuna performed as the opening act to Jefferson Airplane with a combination of both electric and acoustic sets. The band's name came from someone Kaukonen refers to as a "witty wag" who called out, "hot tuna" after hearing the line 'What's that smell like fish, oh baby,' from the song "Keep On Truckin'."

In September 1969, a week of concerts were recorded at New Orleans House in Berkeley and released as a live album in 1970, Hot Tuna. This album has become affectionately known by the group's fans as the "breaking glass album", because of the sound of breaking beer glasses during the recording of "Uncle Sam Blues".

I (had to) listen to then new Ed Sheehan album as I drove my kids to school this morning.

Not all that bad. Kind of bland... not something I'll listen to on my own... but not too bad.

I discovered Sons of the Sea this week, which was a side project of Brandon Boyd in 2013. As a long time Incubus fan I'm not sure how I missed it.

Medicine Drum - Original Face

Quote:
Fusing the latest cutting edge styles of progressive electronic dance music with foundations of deep tribal rhythms and live vocals, MEDICINE DRUM are recognized as one of the early music pioneers to cross the boundaries of electronica, where organic meets digital.

Founded in London in 1994 by percussionist and Earthdance founder Chris Deckker, their music is a rich hybrid of styles and textures. Not quite psy-trance, not quite techno and not quite future-dub, Medicine Drum blend all these styles while interlacing them with driving, earthy tribal percussion and world music influences.Medicine Drum's sound and style has always been individual and mystical.

The band has supported some of the biggest names in dance music including Moby, The Chemical Brothers, The Orb, Juno Reactor and Sound Tribe Sector 9 - and has played all over the world including Japan, Morocco, South Africa, Canada, London, Glastonbury Festival UK, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Europe, and the USA.Medicine Drum are back with a new all star line up featuring Greg Ellis on drums (Juno Reactor, The Matrix), Rara Avis on electronics, Lisbeth Scott on vocals (Peter Gabriel's "Last Temptation", Narnia) and special guests MC Wisdom and MC Dakini Star (The Goddess Alchemy Project). Medicine Drum continue to stretch the boundaries of electronica with their dynamic live shows which often include ritual dance theatre and performances by indigenous artists such as Native American drummers, African musicians and dancers.

Their cutting edge sound and visually stunning stage presence continues to draw critical acclaim from around the world."...Watching them play live today is like a dance through time, a heady slide into the depths of rhythms from the past and a dizzying propulsion into the sounds of the morrow." -- Kary Stewart (Ignite Media London)

The Times: Beat Torture

This classic album was released on the defunct (but insanely awesome) Creation Records label (England). I collected a huge chunk of the Creation Records catalog back in the 80s/90s... some bands you may recognize: The Bodines, Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, RIDE, Oasis, Primal Scream... among a host of others. Lots of great music in there!

I remember buying this album at my favorite indie record store (Vinyl Ink Records) just outside of Washington DC. It shipped in a black plastic back with the album's art work.

Haven't listened to this one in a while... brings back a lot of memories.

I do that all the time. HGTV, Food Network, DIY and Cooking Channel. Then after an hour or two I come to my senses and bring up Pandora ;)

One of the great american college band albums: The Connells "Fun and Games"

If you're a fan of late 80's/early 90's alternative...this US band had some good stuff going on.... there's a little bit of a roots vibe here. A+ stuff

Digging into Mutemath's Vitals (CD) this morning while cranking out some work...

Using the OPPO UDP-205's internal headphone amp paired with PM-3 headphones.

Sounds amazing!!! And the music is sweet, too!

Finished up LCD Sound Systems's "A Sound of Silver" earlier... two thumbs up!

Listened to Natalie Merchant Tigerlily this morning. Tidal MQA Master (96 kHz/ 24 bit) on my AKG K712's. It was nice, been a while since I've pulled them out. Reading Sonnie's thread about headphones made me want to pull mine out.
