I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I've been into audio for a little over 6 to 7 years now? Jeez where does the time go.

It started with an automobile accident. Left me unable to walk right work and I struggled a lot with depression and anxiety after the head injury

After the accident as I was going through rehab I feel in love with music and movies. As therapy as escape as diversion as connection as a way to cope. And then I feel in love with recreating those moments as best as I could. Which means I fell in love with the world of audio

My rehab is done I've gratefully made a close to as can be full recovery but am now still in love and will forever be with this world of audio and video I discovered.

I'm building my living room up as my multipurpose home theater music area then I'll be turning my sites to my bedroom and the work office I have.

The learning and journey is never done but that's part of the fun! I started out in audioholics and am now looking at branching out and meeting new friends and enjoying new experiences with members on other forums as well.

I'm glad to be here and looking forward to getting to know everybody!

Dan

Hey Thanks Todd your the one that got me tuned in to AV NIRVANA! Your posting of the Monoprice Monolith Ultra THX 12 subwoofer on YouTube when you unboxed it! That looked like it was a lotta fun by the way lol. Enjoyed your review too! Man I was so close to going with the 15 inch monsters but I went with the PB 4000's instead. If I'd have known they'd measure better behind my couches where no one can see them I'd have gone with the Monoprice and saved some coin! But oh well they still sound awesome I love those 4000's!

Welcome to our little hole in the wall, @danzilla!

Hey Dan, thanks for the kind comments. Glad the video got you hooked into our (and, now, your) community! That video was painful to make - I was just on the tail end of recovering from a tweaked back. LOL... ugh!!!! And that review was pressing, so went ahead and filmed the unboxing despite the pain. Luckily, I had a step-down to gain some leverage on that beast as it was unboxed.

PB 4000s? Serious heavy hitters right there... I'm sure they're killer. You really can't go wrong with SVS. The new Monolith gear is also great - as you note, a little more affordable. But, it's a give and take... what you have is no slouch. I'd hazard to guess that you're listening experiences have been amazing.

Both SVS and Monolith are backed by folks that have a passion for making quality gear that's mindful of budget - really nice folks in both camps.

Yeah those PB 4000's are ought of this world. I've heard some good bass before but now it's starting to get super sick especially now that they are near field behind the couches. They are super precise so low on distortion extremely accurate to the source and very very nimble they can go from being quiet and delicate when needed to, to on the drop of a dime they blow you through the wall like Michael J Fox in Back to the Future. Superb on music and stunning on movies. No issues whatsoever on filling my 8500 cubic feet of space. I put in Avatar the other day and when he flies his raptor that first time or whatever they are called that scene above all really stood out. The wind flapping beneath the wings man it was soooooooo coooooool

I thought they would be going on the front wall with my 3 towers but that wall caused so much room gain that I was forced to find the next best spot I wanted the aesthetics of the 4000's but behind the couches I don't need that. By the time I realized it I had fallen in love with them and kept them instead of returning them and going with the Monoprices

I do think when I get a bigger house in about 3 years and have a dedicated room I may just go with 2 of the Monolith 15's paired with the PB 4000's I've carefully researched the stats and they are pretty evenly matched across the board with power, port tuning, and frequency responses especially with all ports open. 4 subs of that caliber would be stellar.
