Which panels are you talking about? The ones on either side near the LP are half wall half ceiling. The ones on the ceiling have a gap created by the cloud brackets about 4 inches.

Any acoustic absorption panel you used when spaced out from the wall vs flush with wall benefits from being spaced out from the wall.
