I think this is going to be a big deal. Dolby Vision has this - LLDV. It’s how the HD Fury products get player led Dolby Vision dynamic tone mapping to a projector.

Does the display device need to advertise its capabilities to the source device for this to work? Will new display devices be required?

Does the HD Fury LLDV set up give you performance equal to the linked pictures?

All displays advertise their capabilities via the EDID. I should say all modern displays using HDMI that I am aware of.

I posted a pic somewhere regarding the HD Fury recently here. There are folks out there that have not been able to set it up properly and have seen no improvement. I am not one of those people.
