I also found the LF Adjust function to be a great help. I listen mostly to music and for a long time I ran with LFA set to max on my 118HT subs, but bass heavy songs would be overwhelming. I dialed back the LFA to just below the midpoint and that resolved the problem. The subs still produce very strong bass, but much more controlled and detailed.

JTR time... about to let all my SVS subs go and get down to some serious subwoofin' with JTR Captivators. Haven't decided on which ones or how many, but my initial thinking is 6 of the 2400 ported units. I'll be discussing it with Jeff tomorrow and hopefully figure out which direction I'll go.

DLART plays a factor in this, as it can defeat "room gain," which can be a result of decay. Example is my subs have extension down to 14Hz (-3dB) with the HTP-1 DLBC, but with my MK3 DLART, there is a sharp drop off at 20Hz. Measuring any of these subs nearfield shows significant dropoff below 20Hz that is gained back at the listening position due to room gain when using the HTP-1 DLBC, which is likely decay that DLART is eliminating using the MK3. No proof at this point, but a reasonable theory of why the measurements are different. I haven't been noticing the issue with music, which is mostly what I have been testing the MK3 with since I've had it, but here lately I've started testing some movies with bass and found the subs to be lacking on sub-20Hz scenes.

It seems like the subs actually need to be able to produce substantial output below 20Hz without room gain to get the best from DLART, and I think JTR's 10Hz tuned subs are probably the best option to get where I'd like to be on movies, yet still excellent on music.
