Hard to belive that 40 years ago today the very first Sony Walkman came out. Those of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s knew them well as they were the only real portable music format and they were well built considering that you can still find many that work today. I personally owned three different models through the years but I still only have one the, F18 that still works today.

I do wonder if Sony will release some sort of new Walkman to celebrate this and not a digital player but an actual cassette player with built in digital media player. That would be intresting. With the resurgence of cassette there may be a market for something like this.

Sony opened up this new website dedicated to the Walkman

Very nice. Thanks.

I owned several. Same with the Discman!
