As much as the first season on The next generation grated on my nerves (bad writing) I will say that Patrick Stewart was the perfect actor for the lead role on The Next Generation.
CBS announced that he will be returning in that role as captain of the starship Enterprise in a new series of Star Trek that is not a reboot of the series but a continuation. Makes me hope they will bring back the Borg into it somehow.

I really look forward to this I just wish that CBS would stop making these exclusinve to its streaming network.

This totally caught me by surprise... Stewart can't be that young any more. Is he?

He is 78 I believe, I little tidbit of info on Stewart. Back in the 90s he had the opportunity to be the manager of a large theater complex here in Edmonton (The Citadel Theater). It has 10 different size drama theaters in one building and as you know he loves acting. He alomst accepted the job (how cool would that have been to have Stewart living and working right here) He was in the midst of filming the Star trek movie so he was unable to commit to the job.

Stewart is my favorite captain of any Star Trek series or movie!

Wow. He's old! The guy needs to kick back and enjoy life ;-))

Tony, that would have been really cool to have him manage that theater... probably would have had some opportunities to chat with him.

I really liked his role in the X-Men series and one particular episode that stands out in TNG that I thought really showed his capabilities was when he lived an entire life on a planet of now extinct population (I dont remember the name) but it was really well done. And of course the episodes where he became a Borg

I like him and he is the best captain. Will check it out once it is available.

How long is the series, episodes, or is it dependent on actor longevity.
Just seems like a odd move to start a new series....without working in a new captain.

Unknown right now but given the Las Vegas announcement I doubt they are taking this lightly.

I am a huge fan of the original Star Trek tv series, growing up with it and all. Not a fan of the other series they put out. Started watching Picard and enjoying it. Mainly I’m a fan of actual innovative interaction on planets etc.....not a fan of the shows that basically took place on the bridge of a ship with a large monitor in which they interact with each other.
