Oppo is closing shop, they have a Farewell on their USA and UK sites, they also verified it on Twitter...
They purposely waited till today because yesterday was April Fool's Day.

Sad day for enthusiasts.

Where is the link?

I just went to their US and Aus site and didnt see anything. I can buy a BR or UHD player still.

USA site has it on the front page up top(they have a rotating 4 or 5 things).
I saw the UK thing 1st on another site, so I went to the US site to check.

Twitter as well.
The players are still available, I'm assuming they aren't making any more.

WOW. They will be sadly missed. Always known them as a great company also. I hope it was a simple financial thing that has them shutting down and nothing more severe.

@Sonnie do you know anymore about this?

First I have heard of it, and I am in shock!

First I heard of it a few minutes ago.

I FINALLY got an Oppo (203) after watching from the sidelines for years, I was impressed with their build quality, and awesome CS...so I spent for 1...and now they are getting out.
I'm like Schleprock, Stay Away!
Hopefully they continue to upgrade the FW for awhile, the HDR-Off has some issues still, and that ridiculous Sony DV thing their owners need(Sony should be paying everyone for that!).

Wow, I am surprised to say the least. I love my Oppo.

Makes me want to cry just a little.

In the near future when Oppo will not be available, folks will have a tough time to find an equivalent player.. Just so sad.

I’ve been on the fence about getting an Oppo but was planning on pulling the trigger soon. Looks like I’ll be going in another direction. Very sad news and I’d really like to know why and what happened.

As with anything business related, I suspect it must have come down to the profits or lack of most likely. Hopefully over time, it will be revealed.

I dont know if I would avoid buying one as they would still be fine. As far as why? Im going to guess because they are in a niche market and not many people buy expensive players. Im betting their overhead is high and they dont bring in enough.

Yeah, owning one is worth having considering they are still updating and supporting for sometime.. I have no complaints with my Oppo.

I'd bet it has to do with the higher price of OPPO's players and the decline of physical media. Of course vinyl is on the rise again...

More and more people are opting for streaming rather than discs and I guess they see the handwriting on the wall and decided they had a good run and all good things must come to an end eventually. :)

I'll use mine till it dies, and I don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

yeah, me too. Mine is still great. Will look to replace it only after it is no longer working. Hard thing will be to find something close to it..

That wacky vinyl stuff just will not die! I thought I would be telling my grandkids about it. Instead, they are telling ME about it.

Well I was on the mailing list to get notified of possible future small "last" batch release and finally got the email this morning.

Just bought the UDP-205 player for the 1299 price from oppo. Seems like many are flipping them on ebay for 2700+ but I will be hanging onto mine for a long time.

Congrats and best to keep it. :)

That is sad, and it is crazy that people are flipping them for more $$. If I was Sony, I would buy them out and use their tech / software.

Ya completely sad. Oh well. Scheduled to be delivered Wednesday.

To think... all my years I've been using a $50 black friday sony special. Think I will see/hear a difference?

Someone that has 4K equipment could answer your question. I’m still rocking out a 65” 1080p LED TV.
