(June 4, 2026) Eight decades is a long time in the consumer electronics space. Brands rise, fade, reinvent themselves, and, as we've witnessed in recent memory, disappear altogether. Onkyo has weathered its share of highs and lows over the years, but if recent product launches are any indication, the company is intent on writing its next chapter. To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Onkyo is introducing special edition versions of two recent additions to its Muse and Creator Series, blending vintage-inspired industrial design with modern streaming, amplification, and connectivity features.
The centerpiece of the launch is the MUSE Y-50 Network Integrated Amplifier, a product that wears its influences proudly. Real Bordeaux walnut side panels, a champagne-gold aluminum front panel, analog-style VU meters, and design cues inspired by classic Integra components give the amp a distinct retro personality. Longtime Onkyo fans will likely spot echoes of the legendary Integra M-588, one of the company's most recognizable amplifiers from the 1990s.
Under the hood, the Y-50 is very much a modern all-in-one streamer. Rated at 250 watts into 4 ohms, it combines Class D amplification with built-in support for Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Qplay. HDMI ARC, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, moving magnet and moving coil phono inputs, analog RCA, and digital coaxial connections provide plenty of flexibility for system building. Up front, a 5.46" color display presents playback information while also showcasing a set of wonderfully nostalgic VU meters that reinforce the unit's retro-inspired character.
To aid in setup, the Y-50 ships with Onkyo's proprietary room-calibration technology. While the company hasn't released extensive details, the system is designed to optimize playback for different listening environments, an increasingly important feature as modern Hi-Fi systems migrate from dedicated listening rooms into multipurpose living spaces.
The anniversary celebration also extends to speakers within the company's new Creator Series of powered monitors. Inspired by Onkyo's D-200 Liverpool speakers from 1987, the limited-edition GX-30ARC and GX-10DB combine Bordeaux walnut finishes, dark silver trim rings, textured black baffles, and angled stands that give them a distinctly vintage flavor. While their styling draws heavily from the past, these speakers are aimed squarely at today's desktop environments, including content creation, gaming, remote work, and everyday music listening.
The feature set reflects that modern focus. Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, optical, AUX, RCA/phono connectivity, subwoofer outputs, bi-amplification, and DSP processing are shared across both models, allowing them to integrate with everything from gaming rigs and laptops to turntables and streaming devices. The GX-30ARC further expands that flexibility with HDMI ARC support for television connectivity. Both speakers ship with angled stands constructed from ABS resin with a textured finish, a design that Onkyo says improves rigidity, reduces unwanted resonance, and optimizes desktop listening angles.
All three Onkyo 80th Anniversary Edition products are scheduled to arrive in August 2026. Pricing is set at $1,699 for the MUSE Y-50 Network Integrated Amplifier, $399 per pair for the CREATOR GX-30ARC powered monitors, and $299 per pair for the CREATOR GX-10DB powered monitors.
