I've been having a lot of issues with these two as of late. It's gotten to the point where I cannot watch my Amazon shows on the Nvidia Shield. I keep getting this message whenever I want to watch something "We're unable to play your video at this moment. Please try again in a few minutes ". And these will all play fine on pretty much any other device I try - Rokus, ATV 4Ks, iPads, iPhones, Android phones and tablets.

Anyone else experience this? I've found quite a few people have had this issue via google and they say the solution is to completely factory reset the Shield. That will be quite the operation...

I'll keep you posted on how this goes.

It didn’t work...

I got rid of Apple 4K and Shield TV ... never could either of them to act right on a consistent basis. Now have the Panasonic unit and haven't had the first issue.

We use strictly AppleTV 4K and have never had issues with any of the apps. An added bonus is Netflix and Disney+ offer many Atmos encoded programs.

Yeah outside of Atmos, I've had zero issues with ATV 4K. And outside of Amazon Prime Video, I've had zero issues with the Shield TV. :dontknow:

Are you talking about the Panasonic DP-UB9000? Can you do Plex on that?

I have issues with prime video app on all my devices. Including LG oled, nvidia shield, mi box, etc.. . After each updated there is moment of uncertainty if it will work :) it's not a tv or Android problem but programming quality of Amazon.

Well I have zero issues on anything outside of the Nvidia Shield TV. Haven't checked the Shield TV in a few days though.

Having delved deeply into the PLEX concept, first with AppleTV, then on a Shield, then trying Emby on the Shield, and finally ending up on Kodi, last week I had finally had enough of the Shield.

The AppleTV is a great device for 60% of the public.

The Shield is a great device for another 20% of the public.

For the other 10% (ie people like us), there are too many glitches and shortcomings in the highest end features.

Plus the Shield’s remote is terrible, it loses connection and the whole unit locks up too frequently.

Last night I put a Zidoo 10S in my rack, installed their custom Kodi kit, and I think this will be the best box for those who demand the highest quality playback of movie files from a server.

I’ll make its own post soon, once I’ve had time to run it through the paces.

I haven't had any issues with Plex really. It is what it is on each device. If/when you can get Atmos from it on an ATV 4K, that would solve a lot of my issues. That's about the only thing it really is lacking for me. I have noticed what you're talking about with the Shield remote - where it disconnects. But it isn't at the point where I would consider it a nuisance for me. The only problem with the Shield is that it wouldn't play Amazon Prime shows, which may be fixed by now as I haven't tried it in several days. I do know that there were quite a few people with this issue though. I actually have a Roku 4K stick on the back of my AVR just in case I do have any issues in the future.

I'm pretty much convinced there will never be 'one box to rule them all'.
