(April 16, 2024) StormAudio continues to improve its processor line with a new, free firmware update. Cataloged as version 4.6r0, this latest software improvement is compatible with ISP Elite (MK1, MK2, MK3), ISP Core 16, ISP Evo, and ISR Fusion 20 devices.
One of the more intriguing feature enhancements in the update is a dedicated Bass Shaker channel. This topic arose following our AV NIRVANA Live livestream with Dirac's Mathias Johannson, where one forum member asked if Dirac has plans to create a correction-free bass channel dedicated to dumping LFE to a bass shaker system. Within the last week, Dirac told AV NIRVANA that such a channel has been discussed, but that implementation isn't happening any time soon. But this release shows that Storm is one step ahead, with software changes creating a dedicated Bass Shaker LFE channel that's excluded from Dirac Calibration.
Would it be too much to ask for independent output/volume control over said Bass Shaker channel within the app? Inquiring minds would like to ask.
Storm says other featured add-ons in the release allow users to:
- Use the Configurator to create advanced audio zones with subwoofer management capability, multi-way active speakers support, and full Dirac Active Room Treatment calibration of each zone. These audio zone profiles can be managed directly from the remote control.
- Add multi-way subwoofer management, which allows subwoofer arrays with Dirac Live Bass Control and Active Room Treatment.
