Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

I can’t get into marvel… I’ve tried. No dice.

Still haven’t seen End Game!

Maybe in 2026?

The Hunt for Red October

I re-watched the Bourne trilogy in 4K over the holidays. Overall, a very enjoyable time. The second and third films - directed by Paul Greengrass - have a TON of very noticeable rapid camera movements that can be a bit distracting at times. But the movies themselves are solid enough to make it ignoreable.

I was blown away by the sound design in the third installment. It's pure gold... and left me thinking that it might be one of the better (if not best) audio packages I've heard in recent years. Makes it worth the watch alone.

Oh! We also watched Marcel In a Shell.

Fun flick - unique. Not a re-watchable (for me at least) but glad I spent some time with it. Recommended

Train Dreams on Netflix is such a good film. Great storytelling and character development.

That looks super interesting, Grayson. Going to give it a go

I watched this last night. I found it entertaining but don't expect much plot or character development. The soundtrack was not memorable/. Seriously, I can't remember any ooh or ahh moments :)

The Long Walk was enjoyable. Very engaging story.

FANTASTIC film... one of my all time favorites.
When Cortez reached the New World, he burned his ship, as a result, his men were well motivated!
We have our reasons, mine began the day. I was handed the blueprints for this ship., a ship that had but one use!

Wow! Since watching it when it opened, I think I’ve memorized almost 95% of the entire dialogue

We watched Bugonia last night.

WILD.

Recommended (tho don't read about the movie... you'll likely spoil it).

LOVE IT
It's such a quotable movie. Legendary!

That movie has my favorite demo scene... the helicopter pick up and ride to drop off at the beginning (starting with Ballad of a Frogman). Fantastic audio.

Did you enjoy the re-watch?
Sure did! That helicopter scene is really good. Also I really like the first firefight. Great audio throughout actually! At 5.1 DTSHD MA it’s so good it had me questioning how much having more channels could add to the experience. I guess we’ll need an anniversary edition someday with an atmos or DTS X mix to know.

I think the 4k version is in DTS:X and 7.1 DTS HD MA
