Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

I watched the Gorge on Apple tv, even though some reviews weren't very favourable, I enjoyed it, :T

Emily the Criminal. Doesn't have high ratings... but I liked it!

Last night I watched Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. I was hoping for this to be some cool demo scene material, and while it was easier to sit through than the live action LOTR films, the production on this was a little disappointing. The HDR is good in the shadows and midtones but the highs and highlights were very flat, almost washed out. And the audio, while really good in terms of imaging and creating a very large space, it lacked dynamics and punch.

I'm waiting to see this, hopefully it will be on streaming soon, as i didn't see advertised in the cinemas here in Portugal

Finally got to watch The war of the Rohirrin, really enjoyed it, here it was on Max :T

Over the weekend I watched Alien: Romulus. The film was actually much better than I thought it was going to be. I'm eagerly waiting for the new Alien: Earth series this summer :T

Watched a few days ago on Netflix, Electric State, all reviews I've seen said it was rubbish, I thought it was enjoyable, it shows that reviews are always personal

That one gave your new speakers a workout for sure! What are impressions?

That one gave your new speakers a workout for sure! What are impressions?

They don't work as well as having the speakers above me hanging from the ceiling but they still make themselves know with a more spacious sound vertically. I looked up a couple of times to the top of my windows to see if it was raining outside but it was the speakers. :T

Just watched Murder in the First... A movie that is based on a true story about a man who steals $5 and is sentenced to Alcatraz. Excellent movie!
I’ve loved that movie for decades now. Love the cinematography and the performances are top notch.

We watched Sinners today at our Dolby Prime Cinema. Fantastic and highly recommended.

I wasn't all that impressed with Sinners.

Friday night I watched the "Wick is Pain" documentary, which I can highly recommend for fans of the franchise. Really well done, interesting, great stories about the creation and production of all the films.

I watched this flick last night as I was feeling down from having shredded some documents including old medical receipts dealing with my late wife's bout with cancer. It worked while I nursed a couple of ounces

Yesterday we went to the new Mission Impossible in IMAX. Lots of monologuing, but once the action really starts (about halfway through the movie) it's a fun ride. Confirms my belief that VAR is a complete and utter waste of time and energy, and nothing more than a gimmick to price tickets higher. A big screen is a big screen, pick an aspect ratio and live with it. There is nothing to be gained in those scenes.

Then last night, for whatever reason, we felt the need to watch another long conclusion so we watched Avengers: Endgame. I don't think I've seen this since it was in theaters and I enjoyed it a lot more than I remembered. Yes, it's too long, but I don't know what I'd cut. I'd have probably found a way to split it into a pair of 1:45s.

Anyway, lots of butts in seat time yesterday to kick off the 4 day weekend.
