Marantz CINEMA Series 2 Adds New DACs, Wider Dirac Support, and Gaming Upgrades

(August 7, 2026) Marantz has introduced its all-new CINEMA Series 2, a next-generation refresh of its home theater receiver lineup. The lineup includes CINEMA 50 Series 2, CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2, and CINEMA 70s Series 2, with the DAB model available in Europe only. Across the board, Marantz has targeted improvements in sound quality, connectivity, gaming performance, and installation flexibility while preserving the design language that helped define the current CINEMA range.

The model breakdown remains familiar, but with several Series 2 upgrades layered across the family. CINEMA 50 Series 2 sits at the top of the group with nine channels of amplification, 11.4 channels of processing, and the most complete feature set. CINEMA 60 Series 2 and CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2 are 7-channel receivers rated at 100W per channel, while the CINEMA 70s Series 2 keeps Marantz’s slimline receiver format with seven channels of amplification rated at 50W per channel. All CINEMA Series 2 models continue to include full channel preamp outputs for integration with external amplifiers.

The headline audio change is a new 32-bit, eight-channel DAC architecture that's been integrated across the CINEMA Series 2 lineup. Marantz says the updated design delivers dedicated simultaneous high-resolution conversion across every channel, with the goal of improving precision, imaging, dynamic expression, and surround coherence throughout a listening space. Of course, Marantz is known for its signature sound, often described as trending toward warmth, and fans of the brand will be happy to know these new models are no different. Each has been tuned by the company’s Sound Master to preserve the spacious, musical character the company has long worked to cultivate.

Room correction is also getting a notable expansion. Dirac Live Room Correction is available as an additional cost option, with CINEMA 60 Series 2, CINEMA 60 DAB Series 2, and CINEMA 70s Series 2 now joining CINEMA 50 in offering Dirac upgradeability. For users, that means access to tools designed to improve timing accuracy, tonal consistency, bass performance, and listening area uniformity. CINEMA 50 Series 2 stands as the most advanced model in the lineup for Dirac support, adding access to Bass Control and Active Room Treatment.

Marantz has also added new features aimed at everyday usability and system setup. A future firmware update will bring low-latency Bluetooth LE Audio, which is designed to reduce wireless listening delay with compatible headphones and mobile devices. The HEOS platform is getting a bump as well, with Marantz pointing to a more responsive streaming experience and expanded multiroom functionality.

For installers, CINEMA Series 2 introduces Web Control 2.0, which opens the door to system configuration and control from a smartphone, tablet, or computer without relying on a TV-based on-screen menu. HDMI Diagnostics 2.0, available within CI Mode, adds automated HDMI verification and advanced troubleshooting tools to help streamline installation and reduce setup time. Marantz has also added Channel Level Monitoring across all CINEMA Series 2 models, giving owners a real-time view of channel activity to help verify speaker operation and system behavior.

As the flagship receiver in the new lineup, the CINEMA 50 Series 2 gets a few exclusive tricks of its own. Dolby Atmos Channel Expander is designed to use all available speakers when playing channel-based Dolby Atmos content, helping create a more enveloping presentation from compatible layouts. CINEMA 50 Series 2 also adds Center Bi Amp Mode, which Marantz says can improve dialogue clarity. That joins the existing Bi Amp mode for compatible front left and right speakers.

Gaming support gets a bump, too. CINEMA Series 2 adds 1440p video pass-through and AMD FreeSync compatibility, features aimed at smoother gameplay, lower latency, and reduced tearing with compatible PCs and gaming consoles. Those additions build on the line’s existing HDMI 2.1 feature set, giving the new receivers a stronger gaming story for rooms where a console or gaming PC shares space with a full home theater system.

Marantz has also updated packaging across the CINEMA Series 2 lineup. The company says each model ships in redesigned environmentally conscious packaging that reduces plastic use, adds recyclable paper protection, and improves packaging architecture while maintaining the premium unboxing experience expected from the brand.

The Marantz CINEMA 50 Series 2 is priced at $3,000, while the CINEMA 60 Series 2 lands at $2,000. Both models will be available August 12, 2026, through Marantz.com and authorized Marantz retailers. CINEMA 70s Series 2 is priced at $1,500 and will be available September 15, 2026.

I recently bought the previous gen Cinema 70S to upgrade sound on my mum’s tv. Can recommend. Very impressed with the feel and build quality, especially for a “low-end” receiver. A step up from their sister brand. Glad I picked it over the JBL I was considering.

Bit surprised not to see a Cinema 40 Gen 2 yet? Pricing for the 50 seems right up around where the old 40 used to be, so…? Who knows.

Some worthwhile upgrades tho, not the annual cosmetic + model number increment stuff we used to get. Impressed that they seem to be addressing some of the Atmos speaker configuration gotchas.

Still suspect there’s an AV10 in my future somewhere.
