You’re in the minority with the camera problem. I understand it is costly for repairs but for the most part Apple products are extremely reliable.

I’ve never had issues with my iPhones until now, which is pretty much the reason why I stopped paying for the extended warranty and a month later bang....camera doesn’t it.

I’m no longer paying for Apple Care or any form of extended warranty. I’m going to buy a couple of cracked iPhones and fix them up as back up.

Just can't be an Apple fan... tried, but never have been able to appreciate their products, although I know a LOT of people like Apple products.

I’ve got a lot of content on iTunes. So, I had to stay within that ecosystem. Now, Apple and Android are pretty close. I gave the Galaxy S8 a try when it came out, and it was not that bad, but since I’m used to iOS, I found it somewhat confusing with Android. I think if I was to use it for a month or so, I would feel more comfortable using it.

Yeah... I had an iPhone 4s and loved it. Went to an S5 and loved it more... many more useful features for me. Then tried the iPhone (can't remember which one) and just couldn't do without the features the Android offered and I had grown use to. Went to the S7 and it was awesome. Now have the S9 and it blows away the latest iPhone my daughter has... not even a fair comparison for me.

As with most consumer products, everyone has different requirements and expectations as well as end user experiences both good and bad... I have used Apple products (read Macintosh desktop and laptops) continuously since the early 80s and have had little or no problems or issues with the hardware or software... I have also had several Windows machines that have been reliable hardware wise and a not such a swift software experience... Having extensive Software and Hardware Development experience, I can say that modern Unix Operating Systems like the MacOS are head and shoulders more Reliable and Secure than Windows... Don't believe me, search the CERT/CC Vulnerability Notes Database for yourself...

I agree Apple has a good platform but drives me crazy that you cant even add external memory even if it could only be used for pictures/video and music storage.
iTunes is nice though.

Hi Tony, I was wondering if you could be more specific about the Apple product(s) that can not add external memory to and what kind of memory that would be...

iPhone, iPods and iPad more specifically you cant add any SD cards. Macbooks and iMacs you can use USB or upgrade the internal hard drives.

That is true... Although there is always Network Attached Storage (NAS) for the iPhone and iPads... There is USB and/or Firewire, Thunderbolt and SD available in various combinations with the MacBooks and iMacs which support many different storage formats and requirements... My AVR, iPhone, MacBook, Asus Lappy, and Custom Deskside all share music and other files over my local area network both wired and wireless... And then there is always the iCloud ;^)

Oh, and there are various devices and dongles that will allow an iPhone to SD... Just no built in SD storage port...
