(January 26, 2024) German-based Kii Audio is launching its new Kii SEVEN Monitor at this month's NAMM show. Loaded with the same tech found in its larger sibling, the Kii THREE, the speaker creates a cardioid dispersion pattern that's far more directional in its approach than traditional designs. Kii says the speaker's reduced sound emission to its backside leads to fewer reflections in the room, mitigating in-room acoustic challenges while improving imaging.
The Kii SEVEN is a studio monitor that employs DSP controls to align its drivers for a unique listening experience etched by fewer reflections from walls and corners. It's outfitted with two 6.5" woofers, a 5" midrange, and a 1" tweeter with a custom waveguide, all driven by 600 Watts of amplification. While the speaker's frequency response factory measures as remarkably flat (+/-0.5 dB between 100 Hz and 10 kHz, +/-1dB from 10 to 20 kHz), it's specified to play down to 40Hz with -3dB loss, with controls that can be tweaked to pronounce bass or treble levels to taste.
If the speaker is deployed in a studio setting, operators can select from one of two modes: minimum phase or minimum latency. The minimum-latency mode allows for playback with virtually no delay. When latency is not an issue in mixdown, the minimum-phase mode presents audio with outstanding accuracy, making mix decisions easy and reliable.
On the connectivity front, the speaker features analog XLR and TRS inputs, along with AES/EBU connectors for digital signals. While consumer-level devices can be connected wirelessly through Apple Airplay and Bluetooth, professional audio environments can also address the Kii SEVEN via Dante, which eases integration in large-scale setups that involve multiple rooms – even buildings – but is also particularly easy to set up and manage in studio settings. Additionally, Kii Control can act as a monitor controller, and multiple Kii SEVEN and Kii THREE speakers can be connected in large arrangements for immersive monitoring in Dolby Atmos.
The Kii SEVEN ships in Fine Touch White and Fine Touch Dark Grey, and is expected to be available in March 2024. The MSRP (including VAT) is 3,795.00 EUR / 3,495.00 GBP / 3,895.00 USD.
To experience the Kii SEVEN, go to this week's NAMM Show (January 25-28, Anaheim Convention Center) and visit booth #15524.
