Discussion thread for all things Kaleidescape, including gear and movie finds!

Here's a couple of recent announcements from Kaleidescape: two new Terra servers (72GB and 12GB)

The movie store now has Witness in 4K UHD!

Hi! I LOVE my Kaleidescape! I've had mine for a couple of years now. Started with a 12TB Strato, ran out of space fairly quickly, and recently added a 40TB Terra Server. Best way to watch movies, hands down!

Already commented on Twitter, but I love the 4K UHD upgrades for Witness and Shawshank

@PatekGirl, welcome to forum! Way better than Twitter ;-)

So you have your Terra linked to your Strato S? Or do you have a Terra and Strato C combo?

Witness in 4K is all over my radar. Love that flick...

Do you have any other 4K flicks exclusive to the platform?

Hi! I am using the Strato as my player so those two are linked.

Might have to think a bit on 4K exclusives, I have a lot of movies. Off the top of my head - 'The Wave' (I love a good disaster movie), 'Skyfall', and now Witness. Will think of others. What are some of your favorites?

Well, I'm fairly new to the platform. I reviewed a Terra + Strato C system (https://www.avnirvana.com/threads/t...scapes-strato-c-terra-multi-room-system.9107/) a few months ago and was so hooked that I bought it!

So, I'm really just starting to scratch the surface. Finding gems like Witness is exciting, for sure!

I just watched the trailer for The Wave... have to admit, I've never heard of it. Is it a German film? Looks intense!

This is available a month before disc release... $14.99 is a great deal!

Well, let me welcome you to the wonderful world of Kaleidescape! :) It is one of these things that you really have to see in person to understand just how much better movie watching can be. Even my brother noticed the difference in quality and he's not a movie guy at all.

The Wave is a Norwegian film from a few years back. Great special effects! I did see the Inglorious Bastards release. The Kscape often gets movies before they come out on disc. Love that! The Rentals are a great way to check out a movie before you buy it. That's a relatively new service. The Premium Rentals are good too. I saw Wrath of Man, Fast & Furious 9, and Respect. All good movies. And sometimes our files are even larger than the 4K UHD discs. The picture quality and especially the sound separation are amazing on the Kaleidescape! Makes all your AV equipment shine, for sure.

Why thank you! Many of those reasons are why I invested in the platform. Also, to add, the convenience of getting a full 4K file with lossless audio, all in a matter of minutes. And the ability to easily create your own demo scripts... It's all quite incredible.

I need to spend some time running ethernet cables in my home. For me, the need to be anchored by ethernet is the biggest stumbling block for the technology (price aside). But, not insurmountable!

Watching Witness in 4K now, much improved image from the HD version which I found too grainy.

Nice little friday drop...

I watched the Wave! Pretty good film. A little predictable, but entertaining. Nonetheless. Great bass!

Happy you enjoyed watching The Wave Todd, it's one of my all-time favorite disaster movies! Looks SO GOOD on the Kaleidescape!!

The tsunami in a car scene was intense. I'll definitely cherry-pick a few scenes for future reviews!

Have you made any demo scripts?

The Protégé also dropped recently. Pretty good movie, a good chick spy movie with Maggie Q, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Keaton (who is great in this role). A tad predictable, but fun nonetheless. Good reparté between Keaton and Maggie Q.

Have not made any demo scripts yet. Need to learn how to do that! It's on my To-Do list ‍:innocent:

I should build out an instruction list and post it... it's easy to do and endlessly cool.

I'll have to give this a watch... I bought and watched Free Guy last night. Fun flick!

I think the kids would enjoy Free Guy. Might have to queue this up for the weekend.

Oh yeah, they would. It's like the Truman Show meets Groundhog Day, Ready Player One, and Deadpool. Enjoyable watch, sound is AMAZING!

Oh wow, they would definitely like it!

Also, in reference to the above topic on Scripts, I like the idea of posting some instructions. Please go ahead, would be very helpful imho :)

I'm going to need a few days... but I'll pull something together!

Wish they had done this sooner. Need a Rocky Bundle!
