I have a brand new RS520 installed (a few days old)... replacing a RS45 (that, by the way, was and still is a stellar performer). I haven't given it a 4K source test yet (need to install a new HDMI cable run), but right out of the box the RS520 in THX mode look incredibly accurate while being fed Blu-ray.

JVC's PJs are killer gear. Just killer... there's no way around it. If I can get a work around on my 1080p/Rec709 signal generator, I'll do a full review on the 520.

To update the thread... I decided to go all out and grabbed the JVC DLA-RS620 and it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday).

Should rename this thread RS620...

Looking forward to a comparison between the 520 and 620. Even though when I am finally able to upgrade I will likely only be able to buy the 420.....but that's why life is exciting....to dreaming.

I can say the picture is absolutely stunning and all I did was set the screen size, focus and set it to HDR. I noticed the fan runs on high when set to HDR, which I can't hear it unless things get silent. I wonder if it would be okay to turn it down, as there is a setting for it when changing the mode in the menu.

Planet Earth II is AMAZING in 4K! That would be first up if I were DJ'ing your 4K projector party. Another that doesn't get much love but I'd recommend for A/V demo is Passengers.

Your projector has to run in high lamp mode during HDR mode. I don't think there's a way around it... which means that fan is going to kick on...

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone doing a fan mod on a projector. Would wait till the warranty was out, but I imagine it could be improved on.

It will run in Low or High when in that mode... although the brightness is cut ever so slightly when in Low.

The setting option is there... and I changed it last night. You can customize each mode with several settings.
