I know some of you will remember Mike Paulton... a serious driving force behind the success of the DIY Subwoofer forum over at HTS. He was an HTS Administrator for several years before he resigned due to health issues. Mike lived in Chitek Lake, Saskatchewan (I still have his address on file)... and he worked in the mines up there, but I believe he quit working and moderating at about the same time. I don't remember the exact details, but it was a year or two before we sold HTS.

I thought I would reach out to him to see if he was feeling up to helping us with the new forum and stumbled onto his obituary... and just could not believe what I was reading. Mike died at only 57 years of age. Very difficult to accept... and a sad discovery indeed.

I was just thinking of Mike and wondering how he was doing and surprised we had not heard from him recently. Very sad news. Thanks for letting us know, Sonnie.

Wow! I was wondering if you were going to reach out to him. This whole situation reminds me of Don (harpmaker) at HTS.

Very sad to hear this news!

That's right... I forgot about Don, but I remember now. It really gives me chills to think of these guys being gone like that. Feels really weird.

Yeah, Mike was just about my age and the same age as my father when he died. As me and my brother have joked, anything after 58 for us is a bonus.

Wow, that's sad to hear...

Oh no...
I spoke to him more than once on the phone. Living in remote northern Saskatchewan I was not ever able to go see him but he was always very polite and helpful and he sure new his DIY subs

I, too, thought of Mike when we started up, but knew his health had taken it's toll enough that he resigned from something he loved very much, so I deferred.

I still have an enclosure alignment he came up with, which I will use for a donor woofer gifted to me by another enthusiast. I look forward to the eventual build and the dimension it will add to my AV enjoyment, as his advice did for many.

R.I.P., Michael Paulton.

Be sure to write something up on it when you build it out. Lots of folks will remember him and would like to know that he left a legacy here.

Maybe we can call it the Paulton build

wait? what? Mike died? That's WAY too young of an age to shuffle off the mortal coils. My prayers for his family

he helped me more than once with my sub build a few years back :(

Wow, it's getting more & more frequent that are friends are getting serious health conditions. I wish I would have known, I would have prayed for him. We all would have! I pray that the lord will rest his soul and give him comfort.
