Esoteric’s T-01 MagneDrive Turntable Is a $50,000 Look Into Rarefied Air

(August 23, 2026) The world of high-end vinyl playback can get exotic fast, and Esoteric’s new T-01 “Esoteric MagneDrive” Turntable is proof that the climb rarely stops at merely “expensive.” This is a $50,000 analog playback machine built around technologies first introduced in Esoteric’s flagship Grandioso T1, including the company’s patented MagneDrive contactless drive system. And if $50K is a little too rich for your blood, there are savings to be had. Buyers who already have a preferred tonearm can opt for the T-01AL, which ships without one, dropping the price by $4,000.

At the center of the T-01 is Esoteric’s MagneDrive System, a non-contact, magnetically induced platter drive designed to isolate platter rotation from motor-borne vibration and rumble. How it works is as interesting as it sounds. A magnetic driver mounted to the motor assembly rotates near a soft iron induction wheel positioned around the lower side of the platter. As the magnetic driver spins, magnetic force induces the platter to rotate in sync, but without a direct physical connection between the motor and platter. The result is silent, rumble-free platter motion with precise speed stability and no belt to replace.

Esoteric is also leaning into mass, structure, and isolation. The T-01 uses Magne-Float Platter Technology, which reduces the platter’s effective mass from roughly 29 lb to about 9 lb, ultimately minimizing spindle bearing friction. The main unit itself weighs roughly 78 lb, with the base accounting for about 49 lb and the platter accounting for the rest. The beefy outboard power supply adds another 15 lb, which means the full-blown hardware package is every bit as physically serious as its price suggests.

Other design details include a vibration absorber case for quiet motor operation, an inverted bearing system for smooth rotation, and a triple-layer aluminum and MDF chassis designed to control vibration. A high-quality “Master Sound Discrete Clock” motor driver handles platter rotation, while 10 MHz clock sync compatibility allows integration with Esoteric’s G-01XD and G-05 master clocks. Specialized isolation feet combine spike, spike pad, and damper elements into a fully integrated design aimed at suppressing vibration and acoustic feedback.

The T-01 supports 33 1/3 and 45 rpm playback, with no 78 rpm mode listed. Speed can be adjusted by plus or minus 12% in 0.1% increments, and wow and flutter is rated at 0.06% or less. Esoteric also notes that up to two tonearms can be mounted with the appropriate arm base kit, and custom arm base kits can be ordered for an extra fee.

The Esoteric T-01 will be available for international shipment at the end of September 2026. U.S. pricing is $50,000 for the T-01 with tonearm and $46,000 for the T-01AL without.
