I'm sorry, phillihp!!!! Argh!!:explode:
I ran into a guy on a forum who had the same thing happen but back in June with a smaller firmware update. So apparently it’s not unheard of. Also Denon no longer offers firmware by usb download. Seems silly as it may have provided a work around.

I’m sure it’s not uncommon, but I’d imagine the fact that you can’t do a factory reset is uncommon. Did you have to ship it somewhere? Or is there a service center nearby?

Have you gotten any update on the status of your X8500H?

The wait has gotta be killing you! Hope they "hurry up, already!!!!" :T

I hope to get it back and it stay in working order....upgrade the firmware on the JVC RS1000 and watch some new 4k releases like Back to the future and Resident Evil before spring. :hail:

Have received my AVR back from the repair shop. Just hooked everything up and plugged it in to start dialing things back in. It won’t power on? Any advice? It is passing through video from the hdmi port but not powered on?

You have got to be kidding... surely they tested it.

I question things, never had a issue with hdmi or power. Send for firmware issue. They replace hdmi board and now the unit won’t power on. Just don’t seem right to me.

No way. I’m shocked. Denon has such a good reputation!

Try unplugging it, let it sit for ten seconds, hold power button down for ten seconds, then attempt to power up.

You’ve gotta be kidding me!!!!
Power cable is definitely plugged firm into back and the outlet is working?

It's tough when you have a failure like this. I totally get your frustration. Of course, every product on the market is going to have some percentage of failure, But, that doesn't help ease the pain.

I'll be curious to hear what Denon says when you call them!

My AVR was dropped off today at Fedex for its second journey to the east coast for repair. Let’s keep our fingers crossed it returns in operational condition this time. Expecting I won’t see the unit until around April. So it’s been down since November now.....

What did Denon say?

Nothing really. They provided a return shipping label and it’s going to one of their blue label centers instead of a general certified repair site. I would like an explanation as too the first repair shop saying the sat/cable hdmi was damaged due to a bad ground as I have no idea how a fire cube 2 that is connected to the AVR can have a bad ground?! And when I sent it in it didn’t have any hdmi issues ?! But I will suffice with the return of an operational unit.

Received my unit back Tuesday. Have never felt so relieved when plugging in an electronic device and seeing it power on...the second relief was when I heard audio through my speakers in the theater for the first time since November.

Hallelujah! Wonderful news! :dancebanana:

Nice. That was a fairly decent turnaround time. Glad they took care of you. Now... GO WATCH SOME ATMOS!
