There are a lot of memes about the 20s and the relationship of the date with pandemics and interestingly enough, there have been pandemics.

Good advice. Stay safe and keep clean.
I carry a small bottle of hand sanitiser with me now.. Although it doesn't seem as fatal as some influenza outbreaks.

I think part of the problem in the USA, is that it is played down by our President to where everyone thinks this is not as bad as the normal flu. I also agree that they should have done shutdowns as soon as they knew about it, but they did not, and in most cases still have not...hence it continues to spread. People still fly, take cruises, go to conventions, etc. Like there is no problem.

We purchased some of the half masks, and filters...hopefully it will be enough. I also read that they are unsure if wash your food will prevent you from getting it from food handling.

I would love for it to be much less harmful than the flu, but some of the experts are saying it is the worst they have ever seen.disagree, and I hope no one is listening to our President has no clue as to how bad this really is. There are reports that this could hit 70% of the world population. Mexico is anticipating 50%, and we only have 5 cases so far. With the flu...if you catch it, and then get treated and it is gone you cannot get it again. Corona virus you can get over and over, and children can have it without the symptoms. The elderly are the main ones that are dying from it. Do not forget that in Mexico the 2 original Corona cases were people who were at a convention in Italy, before it was even known to be in Italy.
The first video is from an expert, and the 2nd one shows what has happened in Italy....never seen this happen for the flu.

Yeah, it is interesting that the coronavirus can re-appear. We were planning a spring break trip via airplane to another city. We canceled it now.

Where did you read that if you get the flu you can’t get it again....

I do believe the flu can return to the same person it has infected before. I have known people in the past who have had the flu twice..

Yeah, and I have heard it could be next year before we have a vaccine, and also read that they expect it to return again this fall. Could it be that this is going to be our new yearly health threat...in addition to the flu?

When it’s sensationalized they tend to call them by name...then after a while it just gets lumped into “the flu”. For example you could get the flu this year and it could be the bird flu. “The flu shot” is a look at the trends around the world and then issuing the shot of that strain for the year. Kinda a gamble. These virus are constantly changing slightly also. They have already seen two variants of the corona is my understanding. On a light note I here drinking corona beer while listening to I Corona on the radio reduces the anxiety and fear.

I have a bit of a problem here. This Virus probably originated in China, or maybe they just detected it first. Currently the Epicentre is Europe. But I can't see a good reason to call it China's or The Chinese Virus as Trump did today. This is divisive, or jingoistic, or even racist. I am pretty sure that was not your intention triplej, and I hope you understand how this is a bad look. Perhaps you might consider editing the thread title? BTW the UK government information seems to be very measured and science based. They are saying that it is not at all certain that one gains immunity from surviving a dose of C19.

Yes, it can be updated. I have no issues the subject name being changed.

Remember, At the time, in late December, early January, this coronavirus, when it was first reported, all the news agencies, said it was China's Coronavirus. Meaning, the coronavirus originated in a region within China so it was then called "China's Coronavirus" to pinpoint where this virus was located. There was nothing racist or nothing demeaning meant by the name. It was simply a geographical pinpoint of where the virus originated and where it was infecting people.

Now, months later, it has spread and of course, it is beyond China so now, people just call it coronavirus or by the scientific name COVID-19.

I can't update the thread name. I don't have the ability.

If you have the ability or someone who can, please update it by removing China and just leave it as coronavirus or call it COVID-19.

Again, thread name was just a copy of the subject name that all the news agencies were referencing to and it was just a pinpoint for the geographical location of where the virus was at present at that time.

Thanks for your speedy response and thoughts. I hear you, but naw, it smells wrong to me even in retrospect. Yes, Spanish Flu, Swine Flu, but we didn't say the DRC's or Africa's Ebola or Argentina's Foot and Mouth Disease, did we? I guess Trump's thing today was just pure hatred which sensitised me. But people are widely outraged, so he has made you look bad by association!
I'll rub some kryptonite and see if I have the super powers to edit your title for you.
