Yep... it's early to start talking football, but figured I'd get it going none the less.
The most recent National Champions Alabama Crimson Tide will play their Spring game today. Looking forward to seeing our new QB, Bryce Young, in action as a leader.
Several other teams have Spring games today as well... Ohio State, USC, Miami, and Georgia to name a few.
Yep... people ready to see some football... fans going thru withdrawals from last year.
The Tide looked okay to have a new QB, but I do believe this will be a rebuilding year for us and hopefully we can make another run in 2022. I suspect we'll lose a few games this year due to inexperience.
Crazy that TX and OK are moving to the SEC in 2025. We're going to end up with a handful of super conferences... no NCAA... and big money going directly to players (which, in my opinion, it should).
Not surprised Bama is #1 preseason... very surprised that Iowa St. is #6!
Last week, I took my youngest daughter (Senior in high school) to Notre Dame to tour the campus and meet admissions. My first time there... football stadium was alive with the chatter of players. If she ends up going to ND, I'll definitely have to get out there for a game or two.
My gut reaction to Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC is bad idea.
No secret I'm a SEC fan. I just don't see how a concentration of talent helps competition throughout the country.
College hoops is much better in this regard.
The goal from the SEC's perspective is to build a single super conference that can control television, the NCAA, and the CFP.
The goal from the B10, PAC12, ACC perspective is to block the SEC from adding more team's and controlling the entire sport.
The goal from the B12 perspective is survival.
Personally, I would like to see the remaining B12 teams split between the 10/12/ACC to create four equal conferences that each have an automatic bid to the CFP.
The other option being looked at is B12 expansion with Boise State, Cincinnati, and a couple others to keep the P5 conferences alive. I don't see that being viable.
ESPN is in town with College Gameday, too.
We will be watching from our temporary furnished rental in Seattle, while we wait to close on our new home here!
Purdy isn’t overrated. Iowa State has a long history of terrible starts to the season. Need to figure out how to not start slow. It’s annoying. Iowa was really good today though.
Very easily could have gone the other way. I think now Georgia would be the easier opponent if Bama makes it to the SEC Championship. Florida knows they can win it.
The trip to College Station in a couple of weeks will be another big test.
Not feeling the confidence of past seasons. No room for anything less than their best effort.
