Hey,

I am new to this community. I am planning to build in house 7.1.4 Dolby Atoms setup with active monitor. I am confused here there are two options to use one is the sound card and audio interface to connect these many outputs. The question is after I will do the calibration inside the REW that includes the eq for our speaker using microphones now what steps do we need to take if now we do not need to do this thing every time means do we need to update this EQ information on the sound card or the audio interface and that’s the case how we can do that.

Thank You.

After taking the measurements with REW, you so the equalization with your audio hardware. That’s about all I can advise, unless you want to give us more details on what equipment you have.

Hey @Wayne A. Pflughaupt

Thank you for your response I have focusrite 18i20 with this device can I add the equaliser settings?

If I want ask you to which device would you recommend to set up my 7.1.4 dolby atmos studio monitor setup.

For now I have 11 active studio monitor
1 mic for calibration
Need audio interface or dsp for calibration.

But I am asking you what are you gonna recommand me and how can I set up with 7.1.4. I have all the things but I am concerned about the calibration how am I going to do! After doing the calibration with REW what will be the next step.

I’m not familiar with all of the countless dozens of of similar products on the market, but as I understand, equalizing functions are not part of an interface like the 18i20. Typically equalization capabilities are in the software digital audio editing programs these interfaces work with. That is where you would manually plug in the .txt values you have for bandwidth, gain etc.

Your best bet for 7.4.1 processing is a common home theater receiver. Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, and Yamaha are popular brands that carry products in all price ranges. Typically these have built-in amplifiers for passive speakers that you would not need, since you have active speakers. However, any unit you chose would require RCA pre-amp output for all channels. You will probably find that a manufacturer’s budget offerings don’t have that full capability.

Wayne
