AV NIRVANA Speaker Evaluation Round-Up (Session One) - Suggestion Thread

I can see both sides of this issue with the Chane L series delays. I have been able to be patient because I was not ready to upgrade. But if I were ready two years ago and received estimate after estimate on the time frame, and those dates kept on coming and going with no product, I confess I probably would have given up long ago and gone a different direction.

OTOH it's hard to fault the guy for giving us the best product possible, even if it takes a couple years longer to get there. We are always the ones to complain about planned obsolescence of products (electronics in particular) and feeling the pressure to upgrade every other year when the next great thing hits the market. Hopefully the L series will be such that Jon doesn't feel the need to refresh it for quote some time.

And for me the time frame is turning out about right :) But I do empathize with those who were put off for a long time.

It's looking like we are nearing a date... probably either the first and second weekend in October. Right now we have the following:

Chane A5rx-c (these replaced the beloved Arx A5's)
MartinLogan Motion 12 (a previous participant and mainly as another reference)
Scansonic M9 (a newbie)
KEF Q900 (a newbie)

We may look at the Def Tech BP-9020 to include... and maybe another pair from somewhere. It really depends on who will send us something to evaluate. We may can get the Emotiva's in the line-up... not sure.

Possibly the Monitor Audio Silver 6 Series... they are in that 1280ish range... street price that is.

I have asked Dan Marks to send us a pair of SVS Prime Towers which sell for $1,000/pair.

Airmotiv T2 only 1k a pair. But they say they have none in stock till Oct.

A few that catch my interest:

- Klipsch RF-7 II and/or the Heresy III (I understand that Klipsch was not interested, but maybe we can try again?).

- PSB Imagine T2 Tower.

- GoldenEar Triton Two or Three.

The Klipsch RF-7 is way over the price range... and we did the PSB T2 once before as well.

I suspect Todd could reach out to Sandy on the Triton... the Triton Seven would be more in the lower price range we are evaluating this time around.

The RF-7 II has dropped in price, but is a tick over $2500. I will keep looking around, we could use a couple more candidates. Bummer about the L7, but it sure would be exciting to hear Emotiva outside of a showroom setting.

I'd like to see the aforementioned company, Revel, get a spot. The F36 or F35, which I have heard, catch my eye.

I would be interested in the T2 and SVS Sound Supra Towers. I had a chance to buy the Supra Towers for $800 bucks for a pair locally, but I just didn't have the funds at the time. I was so upset! At the moment I've got a pair of Chane A5rx-c with an A2rx-c center. Sounds good, but I've got an itch to try the Polk Audio LSiM703's! Adorama had a sale $750 for a pair of LSiM703's + LSiM704c. Again, I didn't have the funds again since we had to get a new freezer!

I would like to see Polk and Paradigm represented, too.

We can get the Polk RTi A7 that sell for $999/pr.

The SVS Prime Towers are on their way... the Ultras are over the price range we are shooting for on this round.

Emotiva Airmotiv T2's are out of stock and we can't get them. We were under the impression they would be available when we needed them, but it ain't happening. We will hopefully review them later in the year, but not in via an evaluation.

Paradigm models in this price range are reaching end of life, so they are not being heavily promoted right now.

We are looking for Tower/Floorstanding speakers in the $800-$1200 range... might stretch to $1500 if the speakers can be purchased for less.

Still love my Dali Zensor 7's $1200.
Always been curious about XTZ speakers but don't know if they even have a distributor is the US anymore.

The SVS Prime towers are a good pick as well. The SVS Ultra Towers are out of my price range anyways. I might be able to stretch it to buy the bookshelves Ultras. I was looking forward to the Airmotiv T2's too bad!

I sent an email to our Dali contact about the Zensor 7's... perhaps he can help us out. :T

I also reached out to XTZ as well.

Yep... I think we were all very much looking forward to the T2's... a real bummer.

What about the Empteks R5TTi towers?
I tried working with those guys once before, but they were locked in with Audioholics pretty heavy and did not seem to want to talk much with us. Perhaps I can try again.

And... Emptek shows them out of stock.

That's fine. No need to bother. If they aren't open to work with other audioholics, which would most likely help them sell more speaker, then let it be.

Not sure... those are bookshelf speakers. You might post something in a separate thread to get some feedback.

No problem at all... do it all the time.

Dali turned us down... so we'll cross them off the list.
