Andover Audio’s New Andover-One DD Takes a More Serious Approach to Vinyl

(October 1, 2026) Andover Audio builds its products around the idea that great sound doesn’t need to come with a complicated ownership experience. Its new Andover-One DD applies that thinking to a turntable that delivers direct-drive performance, a carbon-fiber tonearm, meaningful setup flexibility, and a factory-installed Audio-Technica cartridge, all wrapped in a package that’s still easy to own. At $999, it becomes Andover’s highest-performance component turntable to date and sits above the company’s more lifestyle-oriented record playback products. It can operate as a traditional source in a hi-fi system or pair with Andover’s One SB powered speaker base for a more compact setup.

The heart of the One DD is a digitally controlled direct-drive motor supporting 33⅓, 45, and 78rpm playback. Andover rates speed accuracy within 0.2% with wow and flutter below 0.15%, and says the motor operates at the platter’s low rotational speed rather than relying on a higher-speed motor and mechanical reduction system. The goal? To reduce high-frequency motor vibration and audible rumble. Above that sits an 8.8" straight carbon-fiber tonearm with adjustable tracking force, anti-skating, and vertical tracking angle, along with an SME-style removable headshell that makes cartridge swaps relatively painless. That flexibility should be especially useful for anyone who keeps different cartridge setups around for different records, including 78s.

Andover factory-fits the turntable with an Audio-Technica AT-VM520xEB moving-magnet cartridge, giving buyers a ready-to-run system while leaving room to experiment later. The tonearm supports cartridges weighing from 2.5 to 6.2 grams, and Audio-Technica’s VMx family offers compatible replacement and upgrade styli without requiring owners to replace the entire cartridge body. There’s also a useful touch of automation built into operation. Moving the tonearm over the record starts the platter, and a contact-free optical Auto Stop system halts rotation at the end of the side, leaving cueing in the listener’s hands without adding a mechanical linkage to the tonearm.

Construction is appropriately substantial for the price, with a thick MDF plinth, damped cast-aluminum platter, silicone rubber mat, adjustable vibration-absorbing feet, and a hinged dustcover included. The overall design is finished in matte black and weighs a beefy 12.8 pounds, giving the deck physical substance without turning it into a space hog. Andover Audio’s Andover-One DD is available now through Andover Audio and select retailers.
