The bass in my home theater setup is supplemented by two bass shakers (Dayton BST-1s) in my HT chair, fed by an iNuke NU3000DSP running mono. The effect is great in general, but exaggerated/unrealistic (the signal source is one of the receiver's two sub outs). It kicks in too frequently. I want it to be barely noticeable and tied to the LFE intent of the movie's director. To this end, I have tried reducing the low pass crossover to 30Hz (with a steep LR slope of 48db) and played with the volume control in the iNuke. This has helped, up to a point. What I would like to do is go further by using the peak limiter. I understand the limiter in the iNuke is "forward-looking", etc. Any experience here using it to control the duration of effects for a bass shaker? Any guidance appreciated, even outside the use of the peak limiter function. I also have a miniDSP 2X4HD that I can use to control the effect, so not limited to the iNuke DSP engine. Thanks in advance!
