Very subdued initially but boy did it finish intensely! That bass was incredible.

lol, the scene with the hearing aid for the first time (the scene shift) and the scene in the corn silo were jaw dropping

Pretty much the entire second half was jaw dropping. Surround activity and LFE are definitely reference material!

oh agreed. I loved the ambient sound effects as the juxtaposition between dead silence and startling moments was incredible.

*SPOILER* The old man scene had my wife catapulting from her seat!

lol, that was intense. Shocked the tar out of you. The monopoly scene lifted me up in the air just about

waiting for Todd to pick up his copy so that his monstrosities of subwoofers get to enjoy this treat

I literally just finished watching it even though it's 12:15 am here and have to be up for work by 6am. It was time well spent. I really enjoyed the movie. It was very suspenseful till the very end. The audio was unreal. The walls were flexing especially during the basement scene. The scene when it was over their heads felt like it was over ours. My wife even said it and that's rare for her to say. Off to bed now. Michael I will be reading your review first thing tomorrow now that I saw it.

It’s incoming! Should be here tomorrow

Excellent review Michael! That cornfield part had my wife and I biting our nails and moving around the couch from the suspense. John has a really good imagination to come up with something like this Yes, I can see like you mentioned it has the 10 Cloverfield Lane feeling since it takes place in a field and there is some sort of alien monster around praying on then but the suspense and terror John brought to the screen is much greater. All of the actors were excellent and yes I just knew the little kid would turn on the space shuttle the moment he got the batteries....Kids LOL!

lol, subwoofer upgrading is a curse. I started out with dual 12 inch PB-12 NSD's back in the day and I thought those were amazing. Then came a THT, then a second THT, then twin 18's with literal coffin sized boxes and a full Peavey IPR amp.... and I'm still thinking of adding two more

Haha, this is why I'm going straight for the jugular this time (when my theater is done), with 4 18" subs (sealed in my case). :hsd:

Anyway, great review. The horror/suspense genre is not normally my thing, but I think I will have to watch this if for no other reason than to experience the soundtrack. I've heard so many good things about it, and now your review has sealed the deal.

Oh man... my in-laws have been in town staying at our place and I refuse to watch movies with my father-in-law, so I've been holding onto this since Tuesday. I saw this in the theaters and absolutely loved it. I am looking forward to revisiting it tonight, now that my in-laws will be staying elsewhere.

The 47:54 mark is unreal. I could hear the walls flex like an expansion of some sort.
