2023-24 NFL

from variety, maybe due to the Swift effect?

The Feb. 11 Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers brought in an average of 123.4 million viewers — the highest number of people watching the same broadcast in the history of television.

112 million of those viewers were tuned into the CBS broadcast — the largest audience ever for a single network. The rest were measured across Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Univision, CBS Sports and NFL digital properties including NFL+. Per Paramount Global, Paramount+ saw record-breaking viewership that made Sunday the most-streamed Super Bowl ever, but exact data regarding streaming views isn’t available.

As the article suggests... seeking attention... because it won't ever happen.

I have a bit of a problem with sports teams extorting cities and states for millions or billions… it just happened in DC with the Capitals who said they were leaving the District to relocate in Northern VA in a new entertainment complex they’d share with Wizards (who are under the same ownership as the Caps).

Northern VA tax payers were going to have spend more than $1billion to build the facilities. Of course, state officials eventually voted against it despite the Governor and teams signing an agreement.

So, the Caps and Wizards are going to stay in DC and the city is going to give them something like $600M to fix up an arena that - I think - is already a killer place.

Meanwhile, city schools are literally falling apart.

It kinda feels like the Bears are trying to play the system right now. Don’t get me wrong, Soldier Field is a dump, but the team has already bought land out in the suburbs to build a new stadium and are now seeing what the city can do to keep them.

Wow. Yes, sounds like a similar deal.

Didn’t they just renovate Soldier Field?

Maybe that was 20 years ago :dizzy:

@JBrax

What in the world is going on?

The county that both the Chiefs and Royals play in voted no on extending a sales tax for a downtown stadium and renovation of Arrowhead. That article is ridiculous and has zero chance of happening.
