(December 9, 2022) Tomorrow, December 10, and Sunday, December 11, Robert Zohn, his team of video experts, and Dealerscope, are dipping their toes into the world of projection evaluation. Masters of Ceremonies for the event is industry expert Philip Jones, owner of Projector Reviews, while Jason Dustal, an Engineer with Murideo and ISF Instructor, will lead a calibration team and overall operations during the two-day affair.

Much like Zohn's Flat Panel Shootout held earlier this year, a panel of professional Hollywood video colorists, film finishers, TV reviewers, and video experts are slated to judge, evaluate, and vote on all picture quality attributes to determine which projectors will be awarded this year’s “King of UST Projectors,” and “King of Long Throw Projectors.” Test patterns and real content will demonstrate elements of picture quality, including contrast, color fidelity, color saturation, and motion resolution.

The event will feature flagship models available in the North American market. Saturday's Ultra Short Throw contestants include AWOL's LTV-3500, Epson's LS800B, Hisense's PX1-PRO, LG's HU915QB, and Samsung's LSP9T. Long Throw models, which will square off on Sunday, will be divided into three different pricing categories, as follows:

Long Throw Projectors costing $4,000-$7000:
  • Epson's LS12000
  • JVC's DLA-NP5
  • LG's AU810PB
  • Sony's VPL-XW5000ES
$11,000 to $16,000:
  • JVC's DLA-NZ7
  • JVC's DLA-NZ8
  • Sony's VPL-XW6000ES
$25,000-$30,000:
  • JVC's DLA-NZ9
  • Sony's VPL-XW7000ES
According to Zohn, “This is a must-see event for all who are interested in the premium UST and Long Throw Projection systems. We are excited to have these two comparison events so the public can see how each projector compares.”
