from cnn,

"President Donald Trump on Sunday extended his trade war to the cinema. Trump, in an evening post on his social media platform Truth Social, said he has instructed the Commerce Department and US Trade Representative to place a 100% tariff on films that are produced outside the United States and imported into America. “The Movie Industry in America is DYING a very fast death. Other Countries are offering all sorts of incentives to draw our filmmakers and studios away from the United States,” Trump wrote in his post. “Therefore, I am authorizing the Department of Commerce, and the United States Trade Representative, to immediately begin the process of instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands. WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”"

So, I guess costs will go up!

This will be interesting to monitor. Not great for the wallet if you like foreign movies!

Not just foreign made movies but also domestic, If hollywood wants to make something overseas, say, some European era film or Africa or Asia period piece, obviously, they can't do that here so the costs will go up for them which in turn means for us. Example: A Bio Epic on a Chinese emperor by hollywood with the great wall, etc. would be part of the cost!

It is a nothing burger... Give it a few months to work itself out... There is a much needed and bigger reset going on here...

Hopefully, We shall see in due time. I just hope costs don't go too much up where theater prices skyrocket and/or dvd/bluray prices for consumers.

It will be interesting to see if this actually affects US studio and crew filming in a remote location. Common sense would say no (at least how I read it). The goal would seem more to discourage the use of foreign resources/crews/etc. and not necessarily locations.

Yeah, I don't think it was planned out properly. Just an announcement and that was it. Guess, we will find out more once it is implemented.

Of course, it's not like the MSM has ever reported anything accurately or honestly on this topic . . . IE calling it a "Trade war" and then going downhill from there . . . .

As I understand it Jon Voight had some input to POTUS on this... Lots of SFX and post production is farmed out around the world...
