The Official JTR Speakers Loudspeaker Discussion Thread!

A friend/JTR/RTJ dealer near me has that set in his demo theater. I'm gonna have to invite myself over for a listen!

Here's some more insight from another poster on that site.

That is me on the right sitting down. I'm pleased to announce that High Impact AV will be the first dealer of the new line mentioned - RTJ Audio! This entire system shown here is my actual system and will be part of new high end home theater packages.

The demo system above is my mains, subs, and surrounds. Also used for the demo are my Seymour Screen Excellence retractable screen, JVC DLA-NX7 projector (that I took on my flight!), StormAudio ISP MK2, 3 Cherry mono Megaschino amps (Jeff's amps were used, but I have the same amps), Lumagen Radiance Pro, and Kaleidescape Stratos 12Tb. Only some of the surrounds are shown here, but I will have 8 base layer surround speakers and 6 overhead speakers.

The subs are not RS1's, but very similar and have external amps with all controls mounted in the rear so customers can't mess things up once the amps are in the rack (hopefully!).

The main speaker is 3-way. When I install my system, each main with 2 subs will be a 4-way speaker with the crossover handled by the StormAudio processor. So, each speaker array will essentially be a full range speaker. The LFE will then be routed to all 6 subs. The six subwoofers will create a plane wave at the front of the room for the bass. This is the proper way to do the bass in any rectangular room. The main benefit is that the width and height modes are completely eliminated leaving only the length mode to be absorbed at the rear and front of the room with passive treatment. By the way the mains, subs, and surrounds are all sealed.

For those that don't want subs under the main speaker, a base is also available that is the exact size of the subwoofer module. Someone might want subs for the left and right array, but a base under the center speaker.

I noticed the guy above is from Omaha. Is he the dealer you're talking about?

That's the guy, lol. Last time I was at his place was a real treat. Every time has been, matter of fact.

My son and I spent a pleasant late-afternoon checking out RTJ Audio, courtesy of @Michael Boeker , President of High Impact AV.

Excellent sound from RTJ Audio and system integration from Michael.

I found this post on another website and thought I'd share it here. Got my 210RM order in this morning.

JTR's Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale:

Great buy! Looks like you'll take delivery sometime in Jan-Feb?

Was planning to purchase the 210RM next year, but I couldn't pass up the great sale.

Tony said it would be approximately 3 months, so it could be end of Feb or into March if all goes well. My 210RTs took 5 months last year because of parts backlog, but it was well worth the wait.

The 210RM is quite a bit larger than my Ascend Horizon, so I'll also need to rebuild my center console.

I would really like to hear those 210RTs vs my Revel 228BEs to see if I’m missing anything or not :dontknow:

I can't comment on how they compare, as I've never heard the Revels. I'd invite you over, but looks like you're nowhere near me.

I never heard the 210RTs either until I purchased them. I had the Ascend Sierra towers and horizon center across the front since 2014 and I enjoyed them very much. However they didn't provide the bass that I desired and the RAAL tweeters have a wide sound stage, but not much vertical. Everything else about them was great, very clear and detailed. I listen to a lot of music and I want to be enveloped by it, over under around and through.

I read a lot about the 210RTs and thought they might provide what I thought I was missing, daydreamed a lot and then I went for it. Moved the Ascend towers to surround and placed the 210RTs up front. Thought I'd try them with the horizon to see how it sounded. With the horizon mixed in, the front stage sounds much lower (due to the wide dispersion of the RAAL tweeter). With movies it sounds somewhat weaker. After a while I decided to disable the horizon and have a phantom center. This gives me the whole room sound I've been looking for and still have the clarity, detail and more dynamics. So I decided to sell the horizon and replace it with the 210RM.

Don't know if that helps you, but that's my story. I'm very happy with the 210RTs and I doubt that I'd replace them.

Last week I was notified by JTR that my 210RM was ready for shipping, a month sooner than I expected it. YEAH!!!

It arrived yesterday afternoon via FedEx, I unpacked it and let it acclimate in the house after sitting in a cold delivery truck. We're in the middle of a cold spell and the high yesterday was in the single digits, so I didn't want to take a chance with a cold speaker. This morning after running YPAO and listening to some music, I can report I'm thrilled with this purchase. (Positive reviews from my wife also.) It's great to have a consistent sound across the front stage.

I haven't had time to modify my center console, so for now I've pulled my front sub forward and put the 210RT on top.

Wow. Look at those beautiful beasts! Love it!

Congratulations!

Me too! Thanks!

And thanks to AVNirvana for starting my JTR journey when I won the JTR 118HT subwoofer giveaway!

Whoa! That's a blast from the past... to be honest, I'd forgotten about that giveaway. How's the 118HT holding up?

Right now it's holding up my 210RM (see photo above). Sorry, couldn't resist. It's a great sub and still doing very well along with a 2nd 118HT that I purchased after the win.

That's great to hear. I'm sure it's inert enough to hold that center without any issue of muddying the waters during playback.

You've got yourself a world-class system there, Jack!

So I picked up a little something to compare against my Revels. This should be fun! When my wife said “ Jeff!!??!!” I blamed @Jack1949
