Hard to tell much about how the season will go in the first month...especially with the wonky schedule that's allowing teams to get away with a 4-man rotation (for the most part)...

That being said, absolutely love seeing the O's mashing!

The O's look good Todd! My Royals started a bit sluggish but have seemingly turned things around. I know it's still early but who would have thought Cleveland would be in last place? It should be a fun season.

O's are looking solid... they have their flaws, though. The only question is how many flaws will be exposed at the same time? Hopefully the starting pitching will show this year... that would go a long way in helping to survive the AL East.

I saw the Royals were a tad slow out of the gate, luckily they're right back at .500.

How's the team speed this year? It's been devastating to opponents in the past.

Think Cleveland is having a little hangover this year? That loss in G7 last year... especially after building the early series lead... must have been a really tough pill to swallow.

I haven't yet had a chance to see the O's play but did see they were off to a good start. As for pitching we both know that's the currency to have. I've been really impressed by our starters so far and believe we're in the top three of ERA. No, our speed isn't quite what it has been the last few years. Oddly it seems our GM is putting more emphasis on power this year and so far it's paid off. Moose and Salvy both have 5 HR's apiece so we'll see how that seismic shift in philosophy plays out. Like every team out there we just need to stay healthy.

Really enjoyed watching Moose and Jones play for team USA. I was actually just south of LA for the championship game. Circumstances kept from going to see it. Wish I had - that was a great run for those players!

As for O's.... the offense is still asleep. If they wake up, look out! ;-)

The only two teams I ever followed, Tampa Bay and Atlanta are both not looking like much so I have not been very interested. Glad to hear the Os are looking good. The family from up there are fans.

I'm assuming you meant Hosmer but yes they were a potent duo for Team USA. Very clutch against some really good teams. Going to one of those games would have been a bucket list type of thing.

Yes... Hosmer... not sure how I slipped on that one!

The day before the game we drove from our vacation home up to LA and it took FOREVER... we're talking going 3 miles in 50 minutes kind of painful... several hours to go 30 some miles....after that experience, my family started to turn on the idea of going to the championship. They're usually game for going to ball games.

We ended up having family come in the that night... just didn't work out. As a baseball fan, though, it was really hard not to jump in the car and go.

I was watching MLB TV last night and they gave a "live look in" on the Royals and Tigers... what a weird ending! The Tigers second baseman totally bit it!!!! Looked painful!

Yeah, I don't do traffic well. I had the pleasure of experiencing Dallas traffic last month and it was nerve wracking to say the least. I can only imagine what LA is like. Have you seen the Royals starting pitching stats so far? If our bats ever come to life we might be ok. Vargas had Tommy John surgery last year and it looks as if they used a tendon from Cy Young. I think it's going to be a dog fight this year in the American League. There's some really good teams on our side.

Talk about a log jam in the AL Central. From first to worst is only separated by one game. What's going on with Toronto Todd?

Traffic in the Balt/Washington area is pretty intense. Traffic in LA (especially considering the massive highways...a few of which have section that are 8 lanes wide) is like DC on steroids. I'm glad I don't have to sit in it every day!

I've seen the Royals stats... they're looking solid! If you get a moment, look at the K stats for NYY and BOS. Crazy!

AL is stacked... every division has multiple contenders. It's going to be a bloodbath... that AL Central

As for Toronto... I'm not sure exactly what's happening. Obviously losing Edwin E. was big blow to their lineup. I'm sure they'll get hot. They've been good for a number of years.

I will forever wish the A's hadn't off-loaded Josh Donaldson to the Blue Jays. :olddude:

Rough weekend for Baltimore in New York... rough!!!! Our closer, Britton, has been injured... and the O's blew two saves in the 9th. :explode:

Yes Sir! That guy is my idol. It was always my dream to meet him in person. Met him a few years ago. Great Guy. His Agent who is one of his best friends hung out with me most of the day. Ironically he (the Agent) is a big O's Fan. On the side I collect strictly Rickey Henderson Cards, have about 2,500. I also collect memorabilia, I have some game used autographed cleats, batting gloves etc.

Very cool.

I loved watching Rickey back in the day. Phenomenal player... such speed AND power.

I guess the game has changed some... but you don't see players like Rickey, Tim Raines, and Vince Coleman any more. They Royals used speed (Cane) on their WS run... but not many teams steal bases anymore.

I busted Will Clarks chops a bit. Told him he was really famous, you couldn't open a wax pack without pulling one of his cards.

That's funny :T

Should we just close this thread now and leave that at the end??:T:T:T:T

The O's and Red Sox are headed on a brawl collision course. Sure seems like these two teams should bury this early season hatchet and let the games speak for themselves, but things are starting to get UGLY!

Very nice pics! Sheesh, you think you've had a rough stretch Todd. No way I would have predicted this start for the Royals. This could be the end for our current core players. If they don't right this ship soon there's going to be a fire sale.

Jeff, the Royals are having some trouble. They made a run at the end of last year...but it was a little too late in the season. Perhaps they'll have a strong June/July and get back into the race. Unfortunately, the AL is crazy right now.

The Orioles are hanging tough, but their schedule (which I believe is the 3rd hardest in MLB) is going to take its toll. Hopefully they can do enough to stay afloat!
