The Montreux Jazz Festival and BMG Announce 'Chick Corea: The Montreux Years'

(September 2, 2022) The Montreux Jazz Festival and BMG have announced the sixth release in their popular The Montreux Years series with Chick Corea: The Montreux Years. Officially launched as a pre-order two weeks ago, and shipping on September 23, the album represents a collection of Chick Corea’s best performances during three decades at the Montreux Jazz Festival. The recording can be enjoyed on audiophile-grade heavy-weight vinyl and compact disc, and via streaming services (including HD MQA).

Chick Corea is considered one of the foremost jazz pianists of the post-John Coltrane era and participated in the birth of jazz fusion. Throughout his career, the American jazz pianist performed 23 times at the Montreux Jazz Festival. This latest release captures songs performed at six of those shows (seven on the LP version), opening with the 2001 live performance “Fingerprints," from his Grammy Award-winning album “Trilogy”.

Corea's legendary status is backed by 23 Grammy awards, 65 Grammy nominations, and five decades of work. He's also earned three Latin Grammy Awards, the most of any artist in the Best Instrumental Album category. Even after his death, Corea continues to live on in the hearts of fans across the world and will continue to be remembered for his illustrious, awe-inspiring career. He now joins five other artists, including Nina Simone, Etta James, Marianne Faithful, Muddy Waters, and John McLaughlin in The Montreux Years series.
