When it comes to home theater essentials, movie snacks can either be overcomplicated or overlooked altogether.

Popcorn is the quintessential movie snack, not to mention everyone's favorite gif subject.

I've used all types of poppers over the years, from air poppers to microwave bags to the novelty "theater-style" popping machines. All have advantages and disadvantages, but I decided this time to find something simple in order to have a solution that inspires me to use it frequently rather than skipping it to avoid clean-up and hassles.

I think I've found the perfect snack machine.

Why is mine coming out way to salty and dry? The first time I followed the instructions that came with it to do 1/4 cup of the kernels and 1 tbsp of the coconut oil with 1 tsp of the flavonoid. The second time the same except I did half tsp of the flavonoid and still dry and salty.

Which instructions are you following? I’m using the premeasured packs and there’s a lot more than 1tbsp of the oil/butter mix.

I’m not sure. Did yours come with a free pre-measured packet?
I believe it came with a couple of those pouches. I may try 1/2 cup vs a 1/4 like the instructions say to have better distribution.

I’d also try one of the premeasured packs, too, if you have one. See how those taste to you.

the whirlypop style poppers aren't designed to come out wet or very moist. In fact they make a very crispy and dry popcorn. If you like the wetness of popcorn, drizel 3 tbsp of melted hot butter over it and toss at the end.. that's usually the finishing step for a wet theater style popcorn.

the salt will be "to taste". I usually use a full tsp of Flavacol for 1/2 cup and it's rather salty like thearical poporn. but you can adjust to taste too.

I would also used more oil... for 1/2 a cup I'd do 2-3 tbsp

when using 1/2 cup of popcorn I use 1/4 cup of clarified butter (oil if you don't use clarified butter) and if you want it wet, 2-3 tbsp of butter over the top at the end.
