(April 12, 2023) In an intriguing early spring move, madVR Labs injects April with pre-CEDIA vibes by introducing the next generation of its Envy Extreme and Pro video processors. Once again, madVR is offering two models, headlined by the Extreme MK2 that’s supplemented by a step-down Pro version.

The Envy Extreme MK2 arrives dressed in a custom-engineered all-aluminum 3 mm case with a 20 mm front plate and matching rack ears. Internally, it boasts an Nvidia 4080 GPU, which massively boosts GPU power and provides a substantial element of future-proofing, both important for Motion AI per-pixel motion interpolation (currently in beta) and AI-based algorithms. It's also equipped with upgraded system components, including ECC RAM, a new ultra-quiet Glacier X2 cooling system, and an aluminum face premium backlit remote control.

The Pro MK2 features the same high-end case and premium components found in the current Extreme MK2. Its GPU gets a boost with an upgrade over the older Extreme Pro and a triple-fan design for enhanced cooling efficiency.

“I am incredibly proud of our team for this accomplishment and grateful to our esteemed dealers, distributors, and customers around the world for their exceptional support and feedback, which was a driving force behind the MK2 design," said Richard Litofsky, co-founder and CEO of madVR Labs. "We believe the Envy MK2 delivers on all fronts - best-in-class video quality and performance, build quality and high reliability, and ease of use."

madVR is currently taking orders for both MK2 models, with limited quantities of the Extreme MK2 ($15,995) available later this month. The company says early units will ship with the MK1 remote control, which will be replaced at no charge when the premium backlit remote becomes available. The Pro MK2 ($9,495) is expected to begin shipping sometime during the summer.

If you currently own an Envy Extreme MK1, you'll soon have the opportunity to trade in a unit in good physical condition plus $4,795 for an Extreme MK2 with a 5-year warranty. The company is also introducing a program for those interested in purchasing a preowned Envy Extreme MK1 with a new 2-year warranty on an as-available basis. Although the MK1 models will no longer be manufactured, the MK1 will still be supported and continue to receive firmware updates.

The Envy Extreme MK2 is scheduled to make its first public showing at the TOLA Expo in Dallas, Texas, May 2-4, 2023, where it will power the video processing in the show’s main demo room, paired with the new Samsung 140” Micro LED TV. madVR says it will also have a booth at the event, staffed by madVR Labs’ Head of Support and Training Ryan Charpentier, Senior Sales Manager Joey Peacock, and CEO Richard Litofsky.

optical discs and Kaleidescape of course look stunning. no new news there. what has impressed us most is all the streaming content. ie: Amazon that not always, but historically is one of the worst. With the madvr extreme, in the first few moments of use, we instantly noticed Amazon content looked like 4k hdr disc. it was a bit jaw-dropping.
