StormAudio Officially Launches Its New ISP Core 16 Processor, StormRemote Mobile App, and AoIP AES67 Module

full

(September 24, 2021) Earlier this month, we broke the news about StormAudio’s plans to launch an all-new 16-channel processor loaded with trickle-down technologies and hitched with an aggressive price tag. Today, that processor – the ISP Core 16 – officially became official during an online product launch and update conference hosted at its headquarters in France.

The ISP Core 16 crams a tremendous amount of tech into a 3U chassis, much of which is found on the company’s top-end ISP MK2 platform, and sports an all-new color display. In addition to support for Auro-3D and Dolby Atmos, the Core 16 can also decode DTS:X Pro and IMAX Enhanced content. It also offers owners access to Dirac Live (Dirac’s popular Bass Module can be added) and Storm’s exciting new StormXT ambiance channel expansion engine.

Priced at $11,999, the ISP Core 16 is available for preorder now with shipping expected to begin shipping in Q4 2021. For more details, read our earlier coverage here.

Storm is also debuting a much welcomed remote control app for phones. The “StormRemote Mobile” app is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones and has been completely redesigned with a new responsive interface and easy-to-access settings and functions. And, for its flagship MK1 and MK2 products, the company is adding an AoIP AES67 module that’s fully compatible with DCI and Dolby ecosystems. The module supports up to 32-channels of input and 32-channels of output, and is Ravenna and Dante AES67 compatible. Storm says AoIP installations have full access to ISP features, including 32-channels of DSP processing, multi-theater and multi-zone management, and Dirac Live and Bass Control in any room.

The AoIP AES67 module is available for purchase now. Stay tuned for more exciting news from StormAudio in the coming year.

Curious if something like the customer web UI that is available thru http://jsoosiah.com/ for the HTP-1 will be developed for this or other Storm units. That is probably my favorite functions associated with the HTP-1... it's literally priceless to have that much functionality.

There's a complete web UI for Storm. Probably similar to the HTP-1 (I haven't seen the HTP-1's), but it allows you to dig deep into the weeds!

That looks very detailed as well... gotta love this new IP functionality with these newer processors.

Blows away the days of old. I'd really like to get my hands on a HTP-1. So far, Monoprice hasn't played ball. I thought one was set up for earlier this year, but I think the supply chain shortage has created some issues on getting demo units out. Quite a few manufacturers are have nothing to go around.

Monoprice cust rep just told me this morning to expect the HTP-1 in stock by the end of the month. I was going with Emo's RMC-1 but have read too much about bugs, even this year so was looking at the HTP-1. In regards to the StormAudio, is Focal's Astra AVR a "good deal" at $15k (for B-stock) since SA makes it? That would be stretching the budget, but maybe worth it.

I don't know much about the Astral AV receiver. It looks like it's based on the ISP MK1 platform and restricts you to 12 channels of powered output and 4 subs. I guess you need to ask yourself: what kind of speaker array are looking to drive AND are you willing to sacrifice upgradeability. I don't know this as fact, but I'm assuming the Astral 16 isn't offered as upgradable with future modules.
