StormAudio Announces 9.1.6 Processing and a New 20-Channel Preamp at ISE 2018​

(StormAudio)(February 1, 2018) StormAudio is invading ISE 2018 with big news and an exciting processor reveal. The French high-end audio manufacturer is showcasing its entire line of hardware at ISE, while teaming-up with dARTS, DT Screens, and Ineva Design for a key 9.2.6 home theater demonstration using its 16-channel ISP 3D.16 ELITE audio processor.

New to StormAudio’s stable of gear is a massive 20-channel preamp/processor (ISP 3D.20 ELITE, $16,000 MSRP) that ships with the same abilities found on the company’s 16- and 32-channel models. The processor’s features include 20 XLR outputs, onboard decoding of Auro-3D, Atmos, and DTS:X, and Dirac Live room calibration. It also features an installer-friendly remote monitoring system. The ISP 3D.20 ELITE is due to begin shipping during April 2018.

“The ISP 3D.20 ELITE is ideal for theatres that need more than 16-channels, for example those requiring multiple subwoofers or perhaps configured for all 3 Immersive Sound formats. MSRP is set at €13.000 ($16,000 in N. America) which is considerably less-expensive than competitor's 16-channel ones,” says StormAudio’s Managing Director Yves Trélohan.

StormAudio has also announced that its entire line of processors will now carry native 9.1.6 processing support. The company is set to ship a new 4 XLR upgrade module ($2,200 MSRP) that adds four additional channels to its ISP 3D.16 ELITE processor, opening the door for legacy system expansion.

Next month, the company is also set to begin shipping a free Mini-Kit microphone package with each of its processor models. The kit, which provides a USB mic and pod, two USB/Cat5 adapters, and one Cat5 USB cable, allows installers to perform remote loudspeaker checks. It also can be used in combination with Dirac Live room calibration.

After reading Harman Lab's report that the more channels you have the less people notice the difference in the quality of speakers... I really want to try plastering my walls with dozens and dozens of Cambridge Audio minx min speakers (BMR drivers).

Most of don't have the room size to justify these speaker layouts...but, wow, I'd love to to have 20 speaker array - high or low quality!
